Critical (level 1)
Critical alarms cause the whole system to fail to operate or
provide services. Measures must be taken to recover or
eliminate the alarms immediately.
Major (level 2)
Severe alarms greatly affect the system operation or result
in severe degradation in performance of service provision.
Minor (level 3)
Major alarms do not greatly affect normal system operation
and performance of service provision. Measures should be
taken to recover or eliminate the alarms in time to avoid
more severe alarms.
Warning (level 4)
Minor alarms have potential effects on normal system
operation and performance of service provision. Diagnosis
and measures should be taken to avoid more severe alarms.
Note:
In addition, some alarm levels are not defined. For these alarms,
users can define their levels in actual situations.
Alarm Handling
Pay attention to the following points when handling alarms:
Alarm Classification
The BSS related alarm messages on Netnumen M31 can be
classified into the following six types:
Equipment alarms
Communication alarms
Handling alarms
Environment alarms
QoS alarms
Chapter
Alarm Messages
This chapter gives a comprehensive and systematic description
of the BSS (V6.20) related alarm messages, which helps system
maintenance personnel to have a clear idea about every alarm
generated at the BSS side. This chapter explains:

As the clock consists of 32M and 8K, the 32M clock alarm is
generated when the clock (32M or 8K) jitters out of the
specified range and affects the links.
The clock is unavailable.
The whole link is blocked if the alarm is generated. Therefore,
the clock cannot be lost. Two boards for reporting alarms are
used in a system, with one active and the other one standby.
When a clock alarm is generated, the system switches over
between the active and standby TSNBs.
For Tier 1 network, clock loss means loss of the whole link
data. The link is recovered only after the clock becomes
normal.
Alarm level: 3
The clock input of the shelf is abnormal. The clock line is not
reliably connected or faulty.
The system communication fails.
Check if the clock input lines are correctly connected.
Alarm level: 3
The board experiences reset. The SETS chip and the constanttemperature crystal oscillator needs to be fully preheated.
The output clock is unstable.
Perform normal operations after the board is powered on. Wait
until the clock board is completely preheated. Conduct the clock
performance test only after the preheat ends.

This alarm is often generated during initial port creation
because ports are generally created dynamically.
The former IPCP state is OPENED. When the link changes to
broken, the link quality is reduced, or lower layer module is
faulty (for example, BSP or microcode fault), the PPP
discards packets for consecutive five times. Moreover, the
PPP state transition leads to another negation.
