1. Comment on the following statement: Animals should be treated with

the same respect
as humans. Bring arguments and examples to sustain your ideas.
In my opinion animals should be treated with the same respect as humans
because animals are one of the basic groups of life on Earth. Just because they don't speak and
don't walk like humans, doesn't mean they should be treated differently.
In the first place, they have soul like us and need atention, love, food and protection. They have
feelings and conscience too. Some animals are friendly and they love people. For example dogs are
friendly and dogs like people.

2. Does modern technology make life more convenient, or was life better when
technology was simpler? Give reasons for your answers.
In my opinion modern technology make our lives easier today because people are busy and new
technology helps them solve their problems faster. for example, Internet helps us to find
information more quickly. We can find information about anything that we are interested in. Also
mobile phones help us communicate easily.
The laptop is a portable device and helps us to have documents with us anywhere.

In my opinion, technology changed our life into a simple and easy situation without question. We can
really save our time and energy since technology has been improved and developed. There is no doubt
humans have benefited by it. There are unaccountable information could come with technology, dreams
could be realized by technology, wealth and property could be came by us with technology,
etc. Technology is not only an abstract word in our cognition, but a process that involves everyday
human lives.
We could visit some where we want to go simply, since people has invented automobile and improved it;
we could through many areas and reach the other place on the earth, because of people has invented air
craft and developed it; we could send sounds, messages, and images to our family and friends, for
people inventing mobile phone and expanding it; we could process many data, due to the fact
that people invented computers and bourgeoned it; we could enrich our amusements, on account of the
invention of TV, projector, and DVD player. Above this paragraph are the advantages of technology; no
one can deny that technology exists with those advantages. We should be optimistic about it, and keep
assisting and enjoying everything technology has brought to our life.

3. Comment on the following statement: White lies are quite harmless sometimes. Use
relevant arguments and examples to support your ideas.
A white lie would cause no discord if it were uncovered and offers some benefit to the liar, the
hearer, or both. White lies are often used to avoid offense, such as telling someone that you think
that their new outfit looks good when you actually think that it is a horrible excuse for an outfit. In
this case, the lie is told to avoid the harmful implications and realistic implications of the truth. As a
concept, it is largely defined by local custom and cannot be clearly separated from regular lies with

any authority. As such, the term may have differing meanings in different cultures. Lies that are
harmless but told for no reason are generally not called white lies.

4. Argue for or against the following statement: Face-to-face

communication is better than
other types of communication, such as letters, e-mail, or telephone
calls. Use relevant
arguments and examples to support your ideas.
I agree with the statement that face to face communication is better then other
types of communications. I think that face-to-face communication had been
existed even before the invention of the languages. After invention of languages,
they became an important part of face-to-face communication. So, I think that
face-to-face communication is more than speaking. In face-to-face
communication you can use different accents and voices to explain your
thoughts. You can use your hands to point to something or you can use your
eyes, lips etc to explain more about what you want to say. So, in face-to-face
communication you have a lot of means to use to explain what you really mean
and obviously you cannot use most parts of them in other types of
communication.
But sometimes, we cannot communicate face to face so we use the other types
of communications like letters, e-mails, telephone calls etc. These types of
communications are the result of the modern technologies and we can easily use
them when face-to-face communication is not there or in our problems. For
example, consider the situation that you want to say something important to
your friend and he is somewhere you dont know? You can easily call him on his
mobile phone or you can write him e-mail and write the things that you want to
say to him. In short, all the means of communications are good but face-to-face
communication is better than other types of communications.
face to face communication is indeed the best form of communication because one can get a "feel"
for the other person's feelings and emotions about the discussed subject. Email and telephone
communications have the advantage of being nearly instant , but they are lacking in the personal
aspect which some people regard as vital for good inter-personal communication between people.

5. Argue for or against the following statement: Self-confidence is the

most important
factor for success in school or at work. Use relevant arguments and
examples to support
your ideas.
Guidebooks suggesting that high self-esteem leads to success in business or
school have become popular in recent years. While it seems obvious that low
confidence in ones abilities can hinder ones career, being self-confident is only
one factor in advancing professionally or academically. In my view, it can easily

lead a person to neglect other important traits. For staying successful long-term it

is vital to deal well with change. It can be harder for people very confident in
their knowledge and skills to stay open-minded about new developments. After
all, this means accepting the fact that these skills may be outdated or obsolete in
the future. In my view determination, networking skills and the ability to adapt to
change are important complements to self-confidence to achieve on goals.

6. Argue for and against censorship in mass media. Use relevant

arguments and
examples to suport your ideas.

Firstly, I feel it is important that we reduce the amount of violence that is on TV,
at least for our children. We don't want our children thinking that it is cool to be
all heartless and go on picking off people on the streets. On the contrary,
emphasis needs to be made on the fact that killing people is illegal and immoral.
Hence the amount of violence the media broadcasts ought to be censored at
least for the kids.

7. What are the advantages and disadvantages of living in the European

Union? Refer to at
least three of the possible aspects with relevant arguments.
The disadvatages of living in the european union are : the reduction of
sovereignty when european Institution ask countries to give some of their
sovereign powers tot the E.U which doesn1t always benefit every country. An
avantage is the high reduction of war probability and the economy of every
country is more stable because of enetering the E.U.
8. In the past years, sport has become more of an industry than a
competition. Do you think sport is practised mainly for fun nowadays or
do you see it as a way to make money easier? Use relevant arguments
and examples to support your ideas.
In my opinion , nowadays sport has become most of an industry than a
competition because I think people play some games only to earn money. The
competition is already inexistent. People try every day to earn more and more
money for their families or to achieve material things.
For example, football players have a lot of money and they aren`t thinking about
football like a passion or competition anymore.
9. Should a city try to preserve its old, historic buildings or destroy
them and replace them

with modern buildings? Bring arguments and examples to sustain your

ideas.
There are now a lot of debates regarding historic buildings and whether they
should be preserved or torn down or not. While some people say that historic
buildings should be preserve, while some other people want to demolished them
to build more modern buildings. From my perspective, i think we should retain
them for the following reasons
Firstly, historic buildings serve as an important milestone of the past
accomplishment.
We can have many moderns building as much as we want but the historic
building is unique, once we destroy them, we will never can see them
again. Therefore, it's not waste of money and land to preserve our unique beauty.
In short, Historic buildings play an indispensable role in reflecting history, and
enhancing inspiration. Government should think carefully before demolishing the
unique treasure old buildings.

10. Comment on the following statement: Personal experience is the

best way of learning
about life. Bring arguments and examples to sustain your ideas.
When you're doing a job, when you are expected to give some sort of
performance, when others are relying on you, you'd better have at least some
experience or else you might disappoint by getting it wrong. If you're giving me
brain surgery, I hope you have some experience.
On the other hand, when learning "life lessons," you can learn some by
experience and some by being told. When we were kids, my grandma would tell
us, "You can learn lessons by listening to the advice of people that have already
learned them.
In my opinion, a combination of both personal experience and formal education
provide a deeper understanding of life then just having one or the other.

11. Express your opinion on the following: To what extent do you judge
a person by his or
her appearance? Bring arguments and examples to sustain your ideas.
I think you should not judge people by their aspects.
I think we need to judge people by their actions and by their behavior, because it
can happen that you judge a person by appearance and that person becomes
your best friend and is there for you in different situations.

12. Speak about the way animals can make our lives better. Bring
arguments and examples
to sustain your opinion.
I think a pet exists mainly for the company; those who live alone or who have lost
a relative can find a friend in a pet.
Also for children, it's like an alive toy! They learn, without realising it,
responsibility and the concept of life and death, preparing them for life- while
having a lot of fun .
Also, people who see this positivity will reflect their attitude in the treatment of
the pets, which will allow the pets to have an excellent quality of life too.

13. Argue for or against the following statement: The director is more
important than the
actors for the success of a play/film.
I am against this statement because I think actors are more important than
directors.
I think that if you choose the right actors for different roles you can realise the
perfect movie.
It is important to focus on detailes. Another fact is that the actors beloved by the
public get more film ratings and the film is sold in many copies and become
popular.

17. Argue for or against the following statement: Theatre and/or film
criticism may have
little impact on the average viewer.
I think that some film or theatre criticism may have a little impact on the average
viewer because their own opinion is not precise. Some critics may have been
right in some respects.
Film criticism is the analysis and evaluation of films. In general, these works can
be divided into two categories: academic criticism by film scholars and
journalistic film criticism that appears regularly in newspapers and other media.

18. Discuss the following topic; give reasons and examples to support
your view. The three
best directors of the 20th century are because

20. Argue for or against the following statement: Training is as

important as talent to
becoming an actor.
In my opinion trainning is very important as your talent.
It is useless to train if you don`t have talent in acting.
It is important to practice and practice every day in order to improve your talent.
if you want to have a career in acting you need to have both talent and
experience.

21. Argue for or against the following statement: Young people should
be taught in school
to read cinematic language.

In my opinion I disagree with teaching children the cinematographic language

because I think they should learn this in a special school.
I think cinematographic language should be an optional subject for students.
If they realize that they have a passion in learning this type of language they
should improve their skills by learning it outside the school.
