Delaware Shakespeare Festival, a summer theatre company in

Wilmington, DE, offers apprenticeships for college students who wish to
gain professional experience before graduation.

Have fun under the stars at beautiful Rockwood Park while learning and
working with the Festivals talented directors, actors, designers, and staff!
P RO GRA M O VER VIEW

Apprentices will be major contributors to the Festivals 2015 production

of The Taming of the Shrew. All apprentices will be paired with a
company mentor and participate in a series of master classes. Specific
duties include:

Apprentices serving as
Wandering Bards

Performance apprentices appear in supporting roles in the mainstage production, understudy

leading roles, and entertain audience members before the show as Wandering Bards.
Directing apprentice serves as another set of eyes and ears for the director in rehearsals. The
directing apprentice helps to prepare understudies and may run small scene rehearsals.
Stage Management apprentices assist the stage manager throughout the rehearsal process and run
the deck during performances. (Production apprentices are also encouraged to apply and will work
with designers to create production elements.)
Management apprentices work with the Front of House team to organize marketing campaigns,
coordinate volunteers, sell tickets and merchandise, and provide an enjoyable audience atmosphere.
D ETA ILS /E LIGIBILITY

Apprentices receive a small stipend.

All apprenticeships (besides management) begin June 16, 2015 and
will be completed by August 3, 2015. (Management apprentices

Apprentices should be enrolled in college. (College credit may be
available.)
DSF does not offer housing. Apprentices should be able to
provide their own transportation and housing in the
Wilmington/Philadelphia area.
