Description
An inspirational message showcasing skills in blending, typography, and creativity.
Objective
I wanted my audience to be inspired to feel God’s presence in their lives. The gray and white
cotrasts convey the message of fog and feeling of being lost. The temple in the background’s eye is
brighter. By setting our sights towards God we get rid of the fog.
Process
First I found images I wanted to blend together using internet search
engines. I created a design rough draft using photoshop, but after critiques I didn't want to go
through with the first layout I created. I picked a different background image and designed a differ-
ent layout. I blended a picture of the Salt Lake City Temple into the backgrounds eye to convey my
message. I then repeated that image by blending it into the background on the bottom left corner. I
used masks and different opacities to get the right blend. I also blended text from a different image
into the background to add to the message.

Description
Event ad made to advertise a day of snowboarding to raise money using only Microsoft Word and a
scanner.
Objective
The company that I’am employed in is having a fund raiser to raise awareness of the dangers of
smoking. The money throughout the day will be given to that cause.
Process
I scanned the snowboarding image from a “Transworld Snowboarding magazine. Then I cropped
the image to my liking in word. I drew out a design I wanted on paper and started creating it on the
computer. I added text boxes for the title and description. I went through fonts that would capture
the message and create some contrast. I wanted the colors to have good contrasts so I chose orange
on the opposite side of the color wheel. Before finishing the project I decided to add the white lines
to create a slope. I realized the top right corner was looking too empty, and I think the line unified
everything together.

Description
Kelly Canyon needs a new logo. Three potential new designs.
Objective
Kelly Canyon Ski Resort is local and for all ages.
Process
It took me a while to think of a good design for each logo. I wanted something that could appeal to
the younger generation as well as keep the traditional Kelly Canyon feel. To create the penguin I
searched for an image on Google and did a rough outline of it in Adobe Illustrator using the pen
tool. I used the pen tool to add skates and then I added text. The next logo I used the pen tool to
make a snowboard then added a Complimentary color scheme using blue and orange. To create the
last logo I traced a picture of a mountain, added snow, and then the text to match the mountain vibe.

Description
Brochure designed using Adobe software to give dating ideas to students at BYU-I.
Objective
There are more things to do in Rexburg than people might think.
Process
I used the rulers in Adobe Indesign to design my outline and to get everything squared off right. I
got some ideas online from different sources on what the inside could look like. I used the pen tool
to draw shapes my text and images could go into. The logo was designed using Adobe Illustrator. I
wanted to the design to have a modern indie feel, also played with the schools name.

Description
Kelly Canyon business letterhead using a personal logo.
Objective
Kelly Canyon is a local ski resort that has been running since 1957. It needs a new modern flare.
Come ski and have fun.
Process
The letterhead was tricky for me. I wanted to keep it black and white, but because of the required
color scheme I decided to be bold with the blue. Then I picked contrasting colors for the fonts. I
enlarged the mountain logo and gave it 50% opacity. I enlarged the title and made the font white.

Kelly Canyon business card using a personal logo.
Objective
Kelly Canyon is a local ski resort that has been running since 1957. It needs a new modern flare.
Come ski and have fun.
Process
The logo was created by Adobe Illustrator. I had the idea of using a mountain and drew out moun-
tain shapes. I then made two 3.5×2 boxes and started creating my design for the business card. I love
the complimentary colors blue and orange. I also think those colors relate well with my message. I
played around with which combinations I could use and came up with the blue front and gray back. I
added text to describe contact information. On the back I added dots for a snow type of vibe.

Description
This project was made through photoshop. It’s purpose is to showcase photography and photo
editing skills to create a ad or poster
Objective
I wanted to convey that it is important to learn from the past. I used Oldstyle font, strict lines, dark
solid colors, and the school building to get that message across.
Process
The first thing I did was take the picture. I borrowed a DSLR camera and took shots around my
neighborhood. The photograph I used is of the old Lyman school building on the Archer Lyman
Highway. After uploading the picture onto my computer I changed the levels and messed with the
color a little bit to get the color I wanted for my design. I cropped out the background and insert-
ed the image onto a new photoshop document. On this document I added color, text, and design
elements.

Description
This is a flier I designed to advertise an upcoming leadership conference for my visual media class.
This project was created to showcase skills in typography, indesign, and flier making.
Objective
The central message of this product is to advertise a leadership conference for graduating seniors to
help them gain a competitive lead in there future occupations.
Process
The project was created using Adobe Indesign. Before I started my work on the software I made
sketches of what I wanted the flier to look like. After picking my favorite sketch I created the layout
on Adobe Indesign. First I made the shapes and text boxes. Then I added the images. After placing
images in their correct spots I went through and made sure everything was aligned. I printed out a
rough draft and had one of my peers critique it. Following the critique I made more changes to the
font and colors. I wanted the design to be unified and complete without all the clutter. Finally I was
able to create a finished product.

Description
A new web page personally designed for a company project.
Objective
The message is that Kelly Canyon is the best local skiing around and customers should go skiing
and have some fun.
Process
I created the webpage using TextWrangler on my mac. All coding and content was done by hand-
coding html and css. I took a webdesign class in one of my previous semesters, so it was a good
review for me to code another webpage.
I created my logo using adobe illustrator. I found the colors using the color picker on photoshop
and adding the correct color code to my CSS. I changed my fonts and colors and also added a navi-
gation bar to navigate to other pages on the website.
