Configuration and updating procedure of AVL 1100 for

Highway Patrol Project


1. Power up the unit (1100) series, Connect GSM and GPS antenna.
2. Connect the USB data cable to the unit and your computer.
3. Encrypt the unit using EN Firmware updater from your computer.
Run Updater.exe file and choose the COM port which is COM 1.
Press Connect. It will show you 1.7.37 Version and the IMEI of the
unit. Now Click Update and wait until its completed.

4. Run Configurator.exe from the folder, Click Connect and wait


until it connects.

5. On the main software and it will show you the software version and
the IMEI of the device. Copy the IMEI number to the excel sheet.

6. Click Load from file and click the fm1100 from the folder. Click
Save when the file is uploaded. A green text message will appear at
the left bottom corner of the software.
7. Reset the device.
8. After restarting the device click Load which will load the setting
from the unit. Please wait unless a green text message will appear at
the left bottom corner.
9. To make sure that all the new settings are successfully applied check
the APN which should be Web1, Domain should be an address similar
to 212.70.49.20.

Note: 212.70.49.20 is not a


permanent address it could be

Close configuration software and Open Terminal Software to
check the connectivity of GPS, Ignition button, Panic button, Busy
Button etc.

Open Terminal software and choose the proper COM port which
is COM1.

Click DTR & RTS at the middle right of the main windows, it
should be green now.

Click Connect and wait for at least 30 seconds.

Now click disconnect and see if there is Latitude &
Longitude. Make sure the latitude and longitude has values, if it
doesnt have values it means the GPS antenna is not connected or

you might need to reconnect and wait for at least one minute. In the
same windows you should see the number of satellites which should be
more than 3 as shown in the following image.

When the unit is connected, turn ON ignition button and wait
unless it gives you
ID 1 = 1 which means the ignition is ON. If ID 1 is 0 it means the
ignition is OFF. Under satellite information you will see Event ID which
means the following;

OFF, if its showing more than 12000 mA it means
its ON

Make sure to update the excel sheet with the SNO of the AVL
unit, IMEI, GSM, GSM SNO
Note: To ensure that all buttons (Ignition, Emergency, Light bar) are
working, turn ON the buttons and wait until it gives you 1 for ID1, ID2,
ID3, ID9 & ID21. Repeat this procedure each time you are testing a new
unit.
