16.15: Working with Images in the EFL Classroom: Learning to Become Intercultural and
Global Citizens (Griselda Beacon)
This workshop focuses on how to work with images in the EFL classroom. Taking into
account that Images are flexible in terms of meaning and that they bring other realities
into the classroom, they deserve special attention. By working with images, our
students learn to develop empathy with other ways of living and understanding the
world. In the workshop, we will show examples from classroom practices and teaching
materials and we will carry out a variety of attractive tasks so as to develop creative
ways to bring the world into our classes.
18.15: Coffee break
18.40: How to do CLIL in secondary schools (Daro Luis Banegas)
In this session I will provide an overview of CLIL. Then, we will explore activities and
resources which we can use and adapt to integrate content and language learning with
teenage learners.

face their own fears and develop empathy with other ways of living and understanding
the world. In this workshop, we will show examples from classroom practices and
teaching materials and we will participate in attractive tasks that combine techniques

activities for primary and secondary school learners.
16.00: Nursery Rhymes and other Traditional Songs (Linda Yael)
This session will be mostly hands-on, in fact voices on. I will briefly explain what we
mean by Nursery Rhymes, and see which ones the participants already know. Then
we will sing, recite, circle dance, and/or perform a selection of rhymes, some for young
children and others for older ones. We will also sing some traditional songs,
appropriate for teenagers and adults. Come ready to refresh old songs, learn new
ones, and enjoy yourselves!
17.00: Coffee break
17.30: The English Classroom: A Native Perspective (Elizabeth Chant)
In this talk, I will offer an insight into the English classroom from someone who has
been through the system. This will include an overview of how education in England is
organised, paying special attention to the provision of Modern Foreign Languages
(MFL) and how this compares to that of other countries. I will also highlight the key
differences and any points of interest that I have encountered during my time as an
English Language Assistant at the Profesorado de Ingls (ISFD 809, Esquel).
