world whereby the policy of permitting employees to bring personally owned mobile devices
(laptops, tablets, and smart phones) to their workplace, and use those devices to access
privileged company information and applications. The term is also used to describe the same
practice applied to students using personally owned devices in education settings. BYOD is
making significant inroads in the business world, with about 60% of employees already using
their own technology (in at least a limited capacity) at work. In most cases, businesses simply
can't block the trend. Some believe that BYOD may help employees be more productive and
more convenience by using their own devices and makes the company look like a flexible and
attractive employer. As employees become more mobile and the use of technology becomes
more pervasive at the workplace, there is a strong demand and requirement for enterprises to
adopt Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) policies to drive productivity and business profitability.
Samsung's comprehensive Enterprise Mobility solutions suite is being developed in
collaboration with industry-leading organizations including MobileIron, Juniper, Citrix, Microsoft,
Cisco and Fingi. The new division will address enterprise customers' needs and it demonstrates
the company's strong commitment in enabling a more secure yet flexible and connected mobile
workforce. The BYOD trend has altered how enterprises approach the mobility of their
workforce, encouraging a more customer-oriented and value management style. To address this
trend, Samsung has built on existing capabilities to further develop business-class solutions. In

Entertainment & Media Industries
In North Americas, the growth of online entertainment & media, the company was struggling to
manage a diverse set of devices through Microsoft Exchange Active Sync (EAS) policies. It will
cause security and supports gaps due to small number of EAS policies and the issues were not

resolved promptly. Upon seeing the difficulty the company was experiencing, Samsung
recommended a strategy that included its IT compliant devices along with an Samsung Mobile
Devise Management solution to provide a much improved level of security and management.
While testing the GALAXY S II in conjunction with number MDM solutions, the company
identified key benefits that were missing in their current environment. They also tested the
GALAXY S II with their current EAS implementation and discovered Samsung has enhanced
features and capabilities that were immediately available on Samsungs devices. The company
subsequently began recommending the GALAXY S II to their user community by listing
GALAXY S II as one of their supported devices list. The associates equipped with the smart
phones are now encouraged to use their online media streaming service because they are
operating in a more secure environment. Once the company performed the intensive evaluation
on various device vendors, Samsung has been ultimately chosen primarily due to its future
potential for easy-integration with various MDM solutions. With Samsungs enhanced EAS
support, the company was able to immediately experience a better and scalable way to manage
their employees devices. Also, the company was very pleased with the high speed, superior
performance, and larger screen sizes of Samsung devices when compared to the devices of
other vendors in the market.

Samsung GALAXY S was the only supplier which met the deadline to upgrade the latest version
of Android OS within the time we desired, and was the only model which provides remote

control service through close cooperation with NTT Docomo. It was a solution which could
resolve the concern about security problem which may happen when the smart phone is lost,
and provided initialization of screen lock and remote execution of security actions. By implement
using the Samsung android smart phones, it will focus on stability & security as well as low cost
-its minimized of 80% of existing notebook computer. It is a successful case in m-CRM market
of Japanese drug manufacturing industry and will have an important influence on introduction of

stability, security, and low cost as important data property could be protected in preparation for
loss of smart phone by adopting a solution through cooperation with a communication company

Transportation
The airlines company has been seeking alternative solutions to accelerate their initiative to
replace existing smart phone infrastructure. Given the companys strict security guidelines, it
was critical that any alternative mobile solution provide a level of security, management, and
functionality consistent with their current enterprise mobile deployment. In addition, the airline
employees wished to bring their own phones and use them for their work purposes. With the
current mobile infrastructure, they could not support the BYOD trend. After an intensive
evaluation of numerous vendors and middleware companies, the company chose the
combination of Samsung GALAXY S II phones and mobile device management solution from
Airwatch. The Samsung security solution with Airwatch provided the client and its employees
highly desirable devices with a level of security and device management that could not be found
on any other Android smartphone. Also, the implemented security policies were consistent with
what they had come to expect from their decommissioned mobile infrastructure. The company
has considered several vendors devices and solutions that would replace their current mobile
infrastructure. However, Samsungs GALAXY S II along with its partner, Airwatchs MDM
solution were selected, as the MDM solution met all of their strict security policies and
Samsungs devices exceeded the quality of the existing smart phones. Moreover, the company
was very pleased with the availability and variety of Samsung devices across the country, so
that they now look forward to adding more of Samsung mobile devices on their supported
device list in the future.
Others Mobility devices
Global migration to the Android OS platform
The company has recently announced that they would strategically exit the smartphone and
tablet computer business and abandon their own platform. Due to this strategic move, they
began searching for an alternative mobile platform for their a few hundreds thousands of
employees, and Android was chosen.Since the company chose Android OS as their base

mobile platform, they started compiling the list of supported devices in order to adopt the BYOD
trend. Due to their highly strict IT compliance and confidentiality policies, the company was
skeptical about the variety of Android smartphones in the market. They wanted to be extra
cautious on security capabilities of the devices as they wanted to protect their confidential data
and intellectual properties.
After intensive analyses and trials, Samsungs GALAXY S II devices were chosen to be the first
Android smart phones on their supported device list. Their initial roll-out began in their European
offices, and is now moving onto the North American offices. The company decided that the
combination of Samsungs security solution and the flexibility to upgrade those devices to
Android 4.0 in the future, provided them with a secure, functional device that would support their
long term goals. With the additional flexibility of Samsungs compatibility with their global MDM
vendor, SAP Afaria, the Samsung GALAXY S II solution provided all the support they required.
The company will be replacing various Android devices with Samsung devices due to many
reasons. As the company was located in multinational geographies, they were looking for a
device that could be purchased and supported in those locations. They were looking for a single
vendor with a single superior device available across the globe. Samsung GALAXY S II devices
were available in all of their regional offices, so they chose Samsung. The Samsung roadmap,
including the GALAXY S III, was another reason they selected Samsung. Also, Samsungs
compatibility with SAP Afarias MDM system appealed to them as they wanted to control and
manage their employees mobile devices. With SAP Afarias MDM solution, the company could
maintain its IT compliance features globally.
Diversification
Samsung take the challenge with introducing their new Enterprise New Division and aim to sell
it to a totally new market. As part of the growth strategy for the South East Asia Region,
Samsung will be making significant investments over the next 12 months in the region, including
a 200 per cent growth in headcount across the areas of sales, marketing, solutions, operations
and service support. This expansion is in line with Samsung's plan to strengthen its enterprise
offering in the region.
Korean investment and ASEANs electronics industry and biopharmaceutical join venture
The electronics industry is one of the largest industries in terms of employment in Southeast
Asia. The purpose of Korean investment in ASEANs is to produce exports for third countries.
They are transfer the technology to produce components. Samsung Group, South Korea's
largest conglomerate, said on Friday it planned to set up a biopharmaceutical joint venture with
initial capital of 300 billion won ($264.4 million).

The plan, part of its planned 2.1 trillion won investment plan in the sector, comes amid a groupwide effort to expand into new business areas such as health care and green energy.
The group's units including tech giant Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, will partner with bio and
pharmaceutical services provider Quintiles to create a contract manufacturer that will produce
treatments for cancer and arthritis.
Samsung will start building a plant in Incheon, South Korea, in the first half of the year, with
production expected in the first half of 2013, the company said in a statement.
The country's biggest business group is also looking to develop biosimilars, generic copies of
biotech drugs used to treat complex diseases like cancer.
"We aim to launch another joint venture for biosimilars this year," Kim Tae-han, a Samsung
senior executive, told a news briefing.
High margins on copycat versions of biotech drugs provide companies with an opportunity for
revenue building, while global pharmaceutical players are faced with impending patent cliffs.
Samsung Electronics, which had mainly focused on organic growth, recently bought a majority
stake in local medical equipment maker Medison, a move that may signal the cash-rich firm's
return to the acquisition trail.
Diversification on banking services.
On Feb 25, 2013, Visa and Samsung today announced a global alliance that combines Visas
expertise in payments with Samsungs leadership in mobile device technology an alliance that
has the potential to significantly accelerate the availability of mobile payments globally.

functionality will no doubt be a powerful product offering especially in markets where paying
with a mobile device is becoming commonplace, said Jim McCarthy, global head of

world is to offer financial institutions a secure way to provision millions of smartphones with
payment account information and that is exactly what Visa and Samsung are ready to deliver.
Samsung has been a pioneer in NFC devices and is again leading the way in enabling NFC-

based mobile payments. The partnership with Visa represents a step towards a global mobile
payment platform, said Dr. Won-Pyo Hong, President and Head of Media Solution
Center, Samsung Electronics. We believe that we have a strong value proposition for financial
institutions that will ultimately allow consumer choice in NFC payments. Near Field
Communication (NFC) technology is the global communication standard that enables mobile
devices to securely communicate with a payment terminal. ABI Research forecasts that a total
of 1.95 billion NFC-enabled devices will ship in 20172. The Visa Samsung global alliance is a
first of its kind between a leading NFC handset manufacturer and payment network that is
paving the way for the implementation of large scale mobile payment programs. The initial areas
