Marine Drains
BLCHER Marine Drains have been developed in conjunction
with a number of leading shipyards. As a result the
product offering meets the specific demands of each
individual installation regardless of the deck construction.
All are suitable for welding into the deck, can be fitted with
a removable water trap (providing full rodding access from
above) and are available to suit any floor finish.
As Marine Drains have been developed on the basis of a
"modular" principle, many solutions are achievable using
only a few component parts.
Drainage Channels
BLCHER stainless steel drainage channels are purpose
made linear floor drainage solutions for use in galley areas,
door openings, plant rooms etc. Drainage channels are
available to suit all floor finishes with a range of gratings
developed to suit the varying load bearing and flow
demands. Outlets are available with a removable water trap
and where applicable filter basket to prevent solids
discharging into the drainage system. In common with other
BLCHER products drainage channels are available in AISI
304 and AISI 316L stainless steel.

Finish
BLCHER Marine Drains are chemically descaled (acid pickled) in
order to enhance the natural corrosion resistance and provide a
uniform matt silver finish. Grates are made of polished
stainless steel. A protective plastic cover and/or film is
provided on most grates and should remain in place until
installation is complete.
Introduction
BLCHER manufactures an extensive range of floor drains,
suitable for light to medium duty traffic, which combine
advanced design, high quality and ease of installation all at
extremely competitive prices.
The BLCHER Marine Drain range has been developed on the
basis of a "modular" principle. This means that by employing
one of 4 standard lower parts, connecting this to an upper part
to suit a tiled, vinyl or painted steel deck and completing the
installation with a removable water trap, almost any floor
drainage solution is achievable. In addition BLCHER also
offers a range of Rodding Eye Points (clean-outs).
Application
BLCHER Marine Drains are used for the drainage of floor areas
and/or discharge appliances in:
Showers
Disabled persons showers
Toilets
Changing rooms
Galleys
Deck areas
Plant rooms
Being of high quality finish, BLCHER Marine Drains and cleanouts are often used when an aesthetically pleasing appearance
is important.

Introduction:
Europipe stainless steel sanitary pipework system is an economical alternative to
traditional systems. The push-fit jointing method has been developed in such a way
that Europipe is completely interchangeable between either gravity or vacuum
discharge systems. The benefits of being able to use the same pipework system
throughout the vessel, regardless of the type of system being employed, can offer
significant installation savings.
Application:
Europipe stainless steel sanitary pipework system is suitable for drainage of:
(a) Foul water
(b) Surface water
(c) Process waste water
Explanation of type numbers:
All Europipe pipes and fittings have triple three digit type numbers. The first number
refers to the product type and the remaining numbers are dimensional references.

Rotate lever once. Turn spindle turn and rotate the lever 2-3 times around
the pipe. Continue this movement until pipe is cut.
Remove pipe cutter from pipe: the pipe is now ready for installation without
additional machining.
Turn spindle with cutting disc until disc touches pipe surface.
Note: FITTINGS MAY NOT BE CUT.

PIPE CUTTER
Cutting Time:
The BLCHER electric pipe cutter cuts Europipe pipes
diameter sizes 50 - 160mm in less than 20 seconds each.
Power Supply:
110 Volt / 50 Hz or 220 Volt / 50 Hz.
Rent or Purchase:
The BLCHER electric pipe cutter is available to purchase or
for hire.
Changeover Time:
The BLCHER pipe cutter includes a different cutting head
for each of the pipe diameter sizes. Changeover from one
cutting head to another can be effected within a matter of
minutes.
Cutting Quality:
The BLCHER electric pipe cutter has 3 cutting discs per
cutting head. The cutting motion has been developed to
produce a bevelled leading edge to cut ends. As a result
only the application of BLCHER jointing lubricant is
required prior to joining cut ends.

Corrosion resistance
Austenitic chromium-nickel steel is resistant to many different
chemical products and most detergents. BLCHER drainage
products are manufactured exclusively from this group and as
such are established for use within the food, beverage,
chemical, pharmaceutical, dairy, shipbuilding and commercial
catering industries.
Hygiene
From practical experience in hygienic installations (food
preparation, healthcare etc.) it is documented that bacterial
growth on stainless steel is significantly lower than alternative
materials (e.g. plastics). In addition an unused piece of
stainless steel pipe has a very low surface roughness
(K=0.00006 in. (0.0015 mm)). This low surface roughness
minimises not only bacterial growth, but also the danger of
sediments building up which may later lead to blockages.
Impact resistance
The high tensile strength of stainless steel makes the material
resistant to impact damage at all temperatures. Severe blows
to the material may in certain cases cause dents, they are
however unlikely to fracture the material.
Weight
BLCHER drainage products are all produced in thin-walled
stainless steel sheet making the most of the materials high
weight to strength ratio.
Fire resistance
Stainless steel is non-combustible which means that pipes and
drains made of stainless steel may penetrate floor partitions
without the need for special fire insulation (e.g. intumescent

Concentration levels and length of exposure have a direct influence on the resistance
of stainless steel to certain chemicals. Each application should therefore be carefully
reviewed to determine the suitability of stainless steel.

Vacuum valve
Basic principles:
Europipe is suitable for use within gravity and vacuum systems. Pipes can be
installed from sanitary fittings to the valves just before the tanks in a typical
installation (see illustration above) and are also used to vent the tanks. Marine
Drains and Floor Drainage Channels prepared for welding directly into the deck
are also available as standard components.

Installation:
1) Push spigot end of pipe to
the bottom of the
adjustment socket.
2) Pull pipe out enabling
socket to be assembled
with piping above.
3) Secure joint between pipe
and adjustment socket
with a pipe joint clamp.
