NOTES

TRADITIONAL WORSHIP

In the early Church, Easter was understood as one

long great Sunday and was celebrated as a week of
weeks comprising fifty days of rejoicing, culminating
with the arrival of Pentecost. The ramifications of the
resurrection of Jesus Christ and His victory over sin,
death, and the power of evil was far too great to be
limited to a one day of celebration! Each of the seven
Sundays had a particular focus. This Second Sunday,
(today), was known as St. Thomas Sunday. Youll recall
Thomas was not present when Jesus first appeared
to His disciples and, as a result, had doubts about
the validity of the resurrection. It was on this particular
Sunday, eight days after the resurrection that Jesus
again appeared to His disciples, this time with Thomas
present. The disciple who had had misgivings about the
possibility of a resurrection fell down before His risen
Lord and declared in the clearest manner possible, My
Lord, and my God! No clearer words have ever been
spoken regarding the One weve come to worship this
morning. All creatures of our God and King, lift up your
voice and let us sing! Alleluia!

PARKING AT FIRST PRES

Part of making our church a welcoming place for guests
is to make our campus as accessible as possible.
Take advantage of our parking garage across the street.
The church shares ownership in this garage and helps to
maintain it so our members can easily find free parking
every Sunday and during the week.
Street and on-campus parking is for visitors, seniors and
those who need extra accessibility to the buildings.
If you are a church member and would like to purchase
a parking card for the church garage for $10, please
stop by the lobby desk at Edington Ministry Center
during the week to complete the application.
