An immigrant from China in pursuit of the American Dream, Richard Yee spent his
early years working in restaurants in Greater Boston and New York. Working from
dishwasher to chef to maitred helped him understand every aspect of the business
and to be meticulous in choosing the freshest ingredients when crafting delicious
cuisine in the kitchen. Drafted into the U.S. Army in 1958, Yee learned valuable
lessons in discipline and work ethic, which he credits in helping him achieve his
vision of the American Dream. Thats the great thing about America, says Yee. You
can have a dream and it can come true as long as you work hard for it.
Yee opened China Blossom in 1960 on Route 125 in North Andover. With hard work
and the commitment to providing excellent Chinese food, exceptional service, and
a great value, China Blossom became an instant success. Still to this day, it remains
dedicated to these standards and continues to be a family-owned and -operated
business. In addition, China Blossom is focused on the long-term goal of supporting
families, employees, and the people of the communities it serves. Over the years the
restaurant has experienced incredible growth, known many generations of families
throughout the Merrimack Valley, and continues to be one of the most popular
restaurants in the area.
