New Student Orientation Assessment & Evaluation Plan

A comprehensive assessment will be conducted following new student orientation that will have two
components, an outcomes-based piece and a satisfaction piece. After their participation in new student
orientation, students will be asked a variety of questions that will assess their comprehension and
understanding of the mission, goals, and learning outcomes for New Student Orientation, and also their
satisfaction with different aspects of orientation. Once the assessment has been completed, we will use
the information collected to evaluate our mission, goals, and programs in an effort to improve student
learning, satisfaction, and retention.
The assessment will be in an online format and a link will be emailed to all new students who
participated in New Student Orientation. The timeline for the assessment and evaluation process is
below:

August 27: Link to online assessment will be emailed by Dean Klein

September 2: Reminder email will be sent by Dean Klein
September 5: Deadline to complete assessment
September 8: Evaluation of assessment responses begins Dean Klein to lead
September 8-19: Plan implementation of any changes or improvements to New Student
Orientation Dean Klein to lead

The assessment will be created using Qualtrics and the Orientation Team will use this same platform to
track student responses and begin the evaluation process.
