ACADEMIC PROJECTS

Modeling and Simulation of a Parallel Hybrid Drive incorporating Flywheel Energy Storage System
(FESS) --- IIT Roorkee (2008)
A parallel hybrid drive train with Flywheel Energy Storage System (FESS) is modeled using
MATLAB/SIMULINK. The model is used for analyzing the performance of the hybrid vehicle under
standard driving cycles of urban and highway driving. Finally it is arrived at that the FESS can perform
satisfactorily and the use of FESS can enhance the performance of the hybrid vehicle in comparison
to the conventional chemical batteries. The results presented in the work initiates a new field in the
applications of FESS on hybrid vehicles.
Mechanical Regenerative Braking System --- IIT Roorkee (2008)
A mechanical regenerative braking system is proposed during the IDEAZ 08, a paper presentation
contest. System is conceptualized to capture the energy otherwise wasted during the braking in
automobiles and other machinery. With main emphasis on automobiles, the braking system was
designed comprising mechanical components. The system has a huge scope of application in modern
automobiles and shaft driven machineries.
Alumni Portal --- IMG (ISC), IIT Roorkee (2007-08)
Alumni Portal is a web based portal developed in EJB framework, using JAVA language. The portal is
used by IIT Roorkee Alumni to remain connected and have discussions.

The RSS news feeds are generated by taking input from the News Management System, IIT Roorkee
and creating the XML feed file. The project is made in CGI Perl. The RSS feeds can be viewed at

Project Leader, IMG--Working as a Project Leader in the group called Information

Management Group (IMG). IMG is a student group that is responsible for managing the
information resources of the institute, including the official institute website and web
applications for subject and placement registration of students.
Project Leader, Alumni Portal--Responsible for managing and maintaining Alumni Portal, a
web application used by alumni of IIT Roorkee to remain connected and have discussions.
I am an active sports enthusiast and quite good at badminton. I have won many badminton
tournaments at college and at school.

Organized and conducted an event Mechasoft, Cognizance 08, Annual Technical Fest of IIT
Roorkee. It comprised modeling practical problems in Mechanical Engineering and then
solving them using programming.
