ROLLING ADVERTISEMENT FOR FACULTY POSITIONS
Applications are invited from Indian nationals for faculty position in the Engineering,
Science, Management, Computer Application and Humanities & Social Science
Department under 4 Tier Flexible Faculty Structure as per MHRD letter no.F.No.339/2011-TS.III dated 15th January, 2014. For detailed information, regarding pay structure,
qualification, experience and other information, etc, please visit the Institute website
http://www.nitdgp.ac.in/. All internal candidates are to apply against the advertisement.
Interested candidates will apply on the prescribed application form to be downloaded from
the Institute. The completed application form along with Demand Draft of Rs.600/(Rupees six hundred only), Non-Refundable, drawn in favour of the NATIONAL
INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY DURGAPUR, payable at Durgapur, should
reach the Registrar, NIT Durgapur, Mahatma Gandhi Avenue, Durgapur 713209,
West Bengal, India on or before by 4 P.M., dated 17/4/2015 by Speed Post /Registered
Post . However for SC/ST/PWD/Women candidates are exempted from paying
application fee. Applicants, who are in employment of Government/Govt.
Undertaking/ Autonomous Body, must send their application through proper channel.
The Institute reserves the right to increase/ decrease/ allocate the number of posts in any
department or cancel the recruitment procedure to any or all post s without any prior notice
as well as without assigning any reason thereof. The institute will not be responsible for
any postal loss or delay.
Institute reserves the right to call persons eminent in their field for interview for suitable
positions even though they have not applied for advertised posts. The applications
received up to 17/04/2015, will be considered, depending on vacancy, for this round of
screening/interview. The application received after 1 7 t h A p r i l , 2015 will be
considered for the next round of recruitment process.

The following eligibility criteria will be followed for the direct recruit
candidates:

For the department of CH, CE, CS, EE, EC, ME, MME, the candidates must be
B.E/B. Tech. (or equivalent) in respective discipline with/without M Tech.(or
equivalent) and PhD in any of the above areas of specialization.

For the department of BT, the candidate with B.E/B.Tech/M.Tech and Ph.D in
any of the above specialization will be preferred.

For the department of CY and PH, the candidates must be post graduate Degree
in respective discipline and PhD in any of the above areas of specialization.
Candidate with Post Doc. Experience will be given preference.

For the department of MS, the candidate must have MBA with Ph.D in above
area of specialization.

For the department, ES, the candidate must be Post Graduate Degree in
Geology/Applied Geology and Ph.D in above area of specialization.

For the department of IT, the candidate must have B.E/B. Tech. (or equivalent)
in CSE/IT/ECE with/without M Tech. (or equivalent) and PhD in any of the above
areas of specialization.

For the department of HSS, the candidate must have post graduate degree in
English/Economics/Management (or equivalent) and PhD in any of the above areas
of specialization.

For the department of MS, the candidates must have MBA with Ph.D in above
specialization.

For the department of CA, the candidate must have B.E/B. Tech. (or equivalent)
in CSE/IT with/without M Tech. (or equivalent) and PhD in any of the above areas
of specialization or MCA with PhD in any of the above areas of specialization.

Reservation is applicable as per the norms of the Government of India. However, PWD
candidates in only the category of Locomotor disability shall be considered.
Incentives extended time to time as per directives of MHRD to the faculty members of
NIT Durgapur.

In addition to normal pay and allowances, as applicable to the central Govt. employees stationed
at Durgapur, following additional incentives are also available to the faculty members. The
facilities may
1. Financial assistance for attending National/International Conferences, Membership
for professional bodies and other contingent expenses under the scheme of
Professional Development Allowance (PDA) limited to Rs 1 Lakh per annum.
2. New Pension Scheme as per Govt. of India Norms.
3. Medical facility for the faculty members and their dependent family members.
4. Suitable in-campus residential accommodation as per rules, subject to the availability.
5. Transportation Allowance as per Govt. of India norms.
6. To encourage research activities, the Institute has provision of generous research
funding for laboratory development for R & D for faculty members (except
Professors) after joining, in case he/she does not have a sponsored project.
7. Provision for consulting fees from consultancy and testing.

Instructions to the Candidates:

1. The application form and essential qualification, experience and other details be
downloaded from www.nitdgp.ac.in.
2. The application form (hard copy) complete in all respect is to be submitted to Registrar, National
Institute of Technology Durgapur 713209, West Bengal, India on or before 17th April, 2015.
3. The filled in application should be accompanied by application fee of Rs. 600/- (Non-Refundable)
in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favour of NIT Durgapur, payable at SBI, R.E. College
Branch, Durgapur (Code No.: 2108). However SC, ST, PWD and Women candidates are
exempted from paying any application fee.
4. The envelope should be superscibed the post .. in .................... Department.
Candidates applying for more than one department have to submit separate complete applications
with application fee.
5. For each of the qualifications, professional experiences, achievements, etc., documentary proof
in the form of self-attested photo-copies is to be attached with the application.
6. The originals must be produced at the time of interview and at the time of joining.
7. Consistently good academic background with all requirements for any category of post applied, as
per guidelines of MHRD letter no. F.No.33-9/2011- TS.III, dated 15/01/2014.
8. Incomplete applications / applications without necessary enclosures may not be accepted.
9. Copy of the category certificate (OBC / SC / ST/PWD), issued by the competent authority, not below
the rank of a Tahsildar, and must be attached. In case of OBC candidates, the certificate indicating
the status regarding creamy layer must be issued on or after 31/3/2014. PWD certificate must
have been issued by the competent authority as per Government of India norms.
10. The eligibility, qualification, experience and requirements for the posts notified shall be governed
by the guidelines issued by MHRD letter no. F.No.33-9/2011- TS.III, dated 15/01/2014.
11. The vacancies advertised are indicative and subject to variation at the time of interview /
recruitment. The Institute reserves the right to fill or not to fill any of the vacancies advertised. The
Institute reserves the right to reject any or all applications without assigning any reason.
12. Any misleading wrong information supplied by the candidates may lead to summarily rejection
of the application, if found subsequently, also the appointment will be cancelled.
13. An application in prescribed form with complete information and attachments will only be
entertained for further processing.
14. The Screening committee shall short-list the eligible and desirable candidates, to be called for
interview from amongst the applicants, based on specialization, availability of candidates, and
requirements of the departments. In doing so it shall not be bound by the options exercised by the
applicants.

15. Mere fulfilment of minimum qualification and experience requirements for the post does not
entitle the candidate to be called for an interview. The Institute reserves the right to restrict the
number of candidates for interview to reasonable limit, on the basis of qualification and
experience higher than those prescribed in this advertisement.
16. Persons employed in Government and Semi-Government organizations must apply through proper
channel. However, an advance copy, superscripted as Advance Copy on the application form,
may be submitted before the last date.
17. No interim queries regarding interview / selection process will be entertained.
18. Canvassing in any form will lead to rejection of application form.
19. Decision of the Selection Committee and the Board of Governors of NIT Durgapur with respect
to the selection process is final.
20. Legal disputes, if any with National Institute of Technology, Durgapur are restricted to
the jurisdiction of Durgapur Court only.
21. Period of probation will be 1 year from the date of joining and may be extended by the respective
BOG on recommendation of Director.
22. A PhD degree shall be minimum qualification for regular positions of NIT,

Campus
NIT Durgapur is located in the heartland of industrial activities and the mineral-rich region of West
Bengal, also known as The Ruhr of India. The city of Durgapur is well connected by rail with Kolkata,
158 km away, and is an important railway station on the main New Delhi-Kolkata route. It is a
three hours drive from Kolkata airport along Durgapur Expressway and NH 2.
The Institute campus, spreading over 187 acres located in the heart of city one km from NH-2 is
known for its serene environment with trees and water body. It is self-reliant with facilities like
residential quarters, roads, water supply, power distribution network, market complex, school, banks,
ATM and post office. The main market complex and malls are within one km distance.
