SANCTIONS:
Sanctions, including the levying of fines, the assessment of charges for the re
placement
of library materials, and/or the suspension of library privileges may be applie
d for the
failure to adhere to the Lending Code.
APPEALS:
Inquiries concerning the application of the Lending Code may be made to the app
ropriate
Circulation Department. Inquiries will be investigated and responded to if sub
mitted
in writing within 60 days of the due day.
All borrowers may appeal the application of fines or sanctions.
There are three possible steps in this process. At each stage in the process t
he
borrower is provided with the opportunity to have the decision reviewed by the
individual or committee with the particular responsibility for the application
of the
fines and/or sanctions. At each step the borrower is afforded the opportunity
to
provide additional information to assist the reviewer. Library staff will assi
st the
borrower at each step in the process.
The steps are as follows:
i. Petition to the head or designated staff of the Circulation unit concern
ed
ii. Appeal Stage 1: to the head of that Library/Department
iii. Appeal Stage 2: to the University Librarian/Law Librarian
