Summary:

Hanafiah Abdul Rahman is an entrepreneur that used to work as an IT

specialized until he decided to get involved in food industry where it leaded
to his involvement into fish breeding. From the article, his self-confidence
and risk taking nature can be seen by the establishment of his own company
without relying on banking agent for capital and while he was still learning
about aquaculture. Mr. Hanafiah is also a proactive entrepreneur that
partakes in the business activity such as dealing with delivery to expanding
the product line all the while managing the company.
He also works hard and diligent to gain knowledge about fish breeding
although he has no basic in aquaculture which was shown through the study
he done from his peers and universities researches. Furthermore he has
done continuous pragmatic problem solving, for example by self-breeding
freshwater fishes such as marble goby to solve shortage supply of raw
material and by providing supply of seeds for fish breeding.
He has shown that he is in this industry for a long-term involvement based
on the commitment he made to the company especially to the product line
expansion. This is done by Mr. Hanafiah through the expansion of the number
of fish species breed, to selling fish feed, fish medication and offering
courses for marble gory breeding and fish feed processing.
Even he encountered problems mostly due to lack of knowledge about
aquaculture and other factor, he never gave up and came with ways to
overcome instead. He is innovative which shown from the fish pellet for
freshwater fish that he created by himself which is made up of anchovy, rice
bran, fish oil and potato starch. Mr. Hanafiah has an inquisitive mind in that
he changes his interest in aquaculture from solely an interest to something
that can bring profit and benefit not only to himself but to the fish breeding
industry as well.
