Sandy Frankel Launches Race for

Monroe County Executive
Democratic Party Leaders Coalesce Behind Strong Executive Candidate
(ROCHESTER, NY --) Sandy Frankel, former supervisor of the Town of Brighton, today
announced her candidacy for Monroe County Executive with the support of local Democratic
leaders.
Sandy possesses a wealth of executive experience, having served as Town Supervisor for two
decades. She was the first Democrat and woman elected to the supervisors office in the towns
177-year history in a then-Republican town. Sandy built a record of integrity, citizen
involvement and open-door government, creating public consensus and committees to hold the
Towns government accountable.
I want to thank my fellow Democrats and so many people throughout the community who have
come together with support and encouragement during this process. I am very proud and excited
to announce with the support of my Democratic colleagues my candidacy for Monroe County
Executive. I have lived in this community since 1977. My husband and I raised our family here. I
have fought to make this community the best place to live, work, do business, raise a family, and
retire. We do not have a County Government that works for us all. As the CEO of a full-service
government, I made the tough calls and restored fiscal responsibility, put us back on the path to
financial prosperity, and cut taxes five times, Sandy Frankel said. We need a County Executive
who will be ready to stand up and fight for its citizens, all of its citizens. Four years ago when
Democrats in the Monroe County Legislature proposed the Office of Public Integrity, I stood
with Legislators and fought for its passage because it was good policy. I have fought for reforms
to eliminate the secrecy and corruption of the Local Development Corporations for years. When
the Brooks Administration cut child care subsidies, I stood with providers and demanded their
restoration, because we know that pre-school is one of the best ways to give children a head start
and success in school. I have proven time and time again that I will stand for the best interest for
all residents of Monroe County, and as your next County Executive, I will continue to fight for
you.
Monroe County Democratic Committee Chairman Dave Garretson stated Sandys effective
leadership and transparent style of government transformed Brighton into one of the most
desirable communities in the County, and one of the most fiscally stable as well. She resolved a

massive debt run up by the previous Republican administration, kept the average annual
property taxes lower than inflation, and worked effectively with the business community. I
support Sandy Frankel for Monroe County Executive and look forward to this competitive race.
I will not increase taxes. Frankel continued. By cutting waste the budget will be balanced. I
will work in partnership with the people, the business community, local and state government
and our outstanding educational institutions to create new, good jobs. And I want to create tools
for seniors to stay in their own homes and enjoy the quality of life here. Our greatest resource is
our people. We have great assets like fresh water, entrepreneurial spirit, and a strong
educational network. In the coming weeks, I will be traveling around the county to listen and
learn what residents need and want. With a shared vision for a bright future for our county and
the know-how to get real results, we will restore government for the people and by the people.
Several democratic officials had been considering running for County Executive, though
Frankels extensive executive experience and impressive track record of leadership and
accomplishments have earned their support:
Assemblymember Harry Bronson: I am honored to have been asked by so many people to
consider seeking the office of County Executive. After thoughtful consideration and reflection
with my family, friends and supporters, I have decided not to seek the Democratic nomination for
this office. I take great pride and enjoyment in my public service to the families of the 138th
Assembly District and believe I can best serve the citizens of Monroe County through my work in
the Assembly. I look forward to continuing my service and am today announcing my support of
Sandy Frankel as the Democratic candidate for County Executive. Sandy has a wealth of
knowledge and experience as an executive having served as Brighton Town Supervisor. She will
work hard for the citizens of Monroe County.
Democratic Minority Leader Carrie Andrews: While I have made the choice not to run for
County Executive now, I am humbled by the number of people who offered their guidance and
support to me during this time. There is no question that it is time for a new direction in Monroe
County and that our community deserves a government that serves everyone's interests. Sandy
Frankel will bring experience and needed change to Monroe County government. I look forward
to a robust debate of ideas about how to move our community forward during this election.
Brighton Supervisor Bill Moehole: Sandy Frankel was a transformative leader in Brighton as
Town Supervisor. I worked side by side with Sandy for over 18 years in Brighton and her vision
and her proven experience are exactly what we need from our next Monroe County Executive. I
am proud to endorse Sandy Frankel for Monroe County Executive.
Former State Senator Ted OBrien: Sandy Frankel was a stellar municipal executive as the
Supervisor of a major town in our community for 20 years. She excelled on her school board,
and won a nomination as a Lieutenant Governor candidate in a statewide race. In every
instance she has acted with great intelligence and professionalism. She will be an extraordinary
County Executive.

County Legislator Cindy Kaleh: Sandy Frankel never hid from the tough issues facing our
community. She always stands on the right side of the issues, from forcing the disclosures from
the number of LDCs that have manipulated County business, to supporting true balanced
budgeting practices. The Office of the County Executive for too long has shut out those most
vulnerable in our community. We have only seen our rate of poverty, specifically childhood
poverty, escalate to unacceptable new highs. I am proud to support Sandy Frankel taking back
the County Office Building for all the people of this community."
County Legislator Josh Bauroth: We don't need four more years of the same. Sandy Frankel,
with her record of transparency and open governance, brings the executive experience Monroe
County needs to move towards a better future for all.
