Law of Lawlessness

In 2 Thessalonians 2.1-13, Paul wrote: “Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being
gathered to Him, we ask you, brothers, not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy,
report or letter supposed to have come from us, saying that the day of the Lord has already come. Don't
let anyone deceive you in any way, for (that day will not come) until the rebellion occurs and the man of
lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over
everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God's temple, proclaiming
himself to be God. Don't you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? And
now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. For the secret
power of lawlessness is already at work; but the One who now holds it back will continue to do so till He
is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow
with the breath of His mouth and destroy by the splendor of His coming. The coming of the lawless one
will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and
wonders, and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they
refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that
they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have
delighted in wickedness. But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because
from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through
belief in the truth.”

What is lawlessness? Why is the false prophet called the “man of lawlessness”; and in the footnote
reference of 2 Thessalonians 2.3, the “man of sin”?

Lawlessness is not the same as sin even though Paul referred to this man as the man of sin. Paul called
the false prophet the man of lawlessness because while all men are sinners and have fallen short the
glory of God, this man is the one who will commit the eternal sin. This is the sin with eternal
consequences because it is will not be forgiven by Jesus and the Father: The blasphemy of the Holy
Spirit.1 Under the New Covenant, sin is unbelief in Jesus the Son of God and disobedience against the
Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Unbelief in Jesus is a sin because in this, you have disobeyed God.

However, lawlessness is not this.

Lawlessness is the application of prophecies and laws of God with the sole intention to break Scriptures
in order to gain honour for yourself. The man of lawlessness is the man who applies prophecies about
Jesus and laws of Jesus with the sole intention to break Scripture by resisting the return of Jesus Christ
to reign on Earth, so that he may reign as a god on Earth with the power and authority he has received.

Remember this decree of the Lord in Psalm 2.7-9: “You are My Son, today I have become Your Father.
Ask of Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance, the ends of the Earth Your possession. You will
rule them with an iron scepter; You will dash them to pieces like pottery."

The goal of the man of lawlessness is to dispossess Jesus, who is the Firstborn of God and the rightful
heir to the Kingdom of the Father, and to take His inheritance as his own. Listen to Jesus’ parable in Mark
12.7. This man says to himself and those who gather with him, “This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and
the inheritance will be ours.” They will do this because they have never had respect for the Father, the
Owner of the Vineyard, or any gratitude that they were given the right to be His tenants.

So why is this lawlessness? Because law is the truth of God. In the Kingdom of God, law is the way
truth operates. Therefore, lawlessness is truthlessness. The man of lawlessness has not truth in him
because he speaks on his own to gain honour for himself. Everything about him is false.

Why is a man who works for the honour of the one who sent him a man of truth? Because this man
would not have any hidden or ulterior motives. He who does not speak on his own has nothing to hide.
He does not need deception because he has no hidden motives. Deception is only required to hide an
ulterior motive, for if it was exposed, other people would never do what you want. Deception is the
deliberate hiding of truth so that you can get your own way. So if you have nothing to hide, why would
you need to use deception?

But can it be said that the false prophet could be a man of truth if he was sent by Satan and he was
speaking to gain honour for Satan? No. Not anymore than you can say that Satan sent Judas, but they

had a partnership, which allowed Satan to enter into Judas. Judas agreed to betray Jesus to the chief
priests in Matthew 26.14-15 before Satan entered into him, which occurred after the Lord’s supper with
the twelve in Matthew 26.17 and John 13.26.

See the difference? This is why the false prophet can never be a man of truth. Satan did not send him.
Neither is he working for the honour of Satan, but for himself.

The Lord said in Jeremiah 31.31-31, “The time is coming, when I will make a new covenant with the
house of Israel and with the house of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers
when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke My covenant, though I was
a Husband to them. This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time. I will put
My law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be My
people.” This is the New Covenant, which we are privileged to receive the blessing of forgiveness
because of God’s grace.

And so for us now, in the application of law and prophecies, the law that is at the forefront of our minds
always and written deeply in on our hearts must be:
• The Law of the Spirit of Life: “COME!”2 and
• The Law of the Flesh of Life: “You must … not die.”3

This must be translated into our daily actions, practice and speech. It means that everything about us IS
Jesus who is coming soon to reign on Earth and we who believe and live in Him will never die. But this is
not the way of the false prophet. This is not the law that is in his mind and written in his heart. For this is
the law that he has put in his mind and written in his heart, as he applies prophecies and the laws of
God, even signs, wonders and miracles: The law of lawlessness.

This is the law of lawlessness: “But I tell you, Jesus must not come. (Even if I have to kill Him again,
He must not come.)”

Therefore, if we understand that this is the law of lawlessness and the false prophet applies prophecies
about Jesus and the laws of God in accordance to the evil in his mind and heart, even if it means killing
Jesus again, thereby positioning himself diabolically against the Holy Spirit forever who raised Jesus from
the dead and says to Him, “COME!” then you will see that central to the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is a
man’s intention to abolish the Law of the Spirit. Then we will also see the design, administration and
word of lawlessness.
• Design is a plan which is comprised of a multitude of details and which reveals the truth of the
intention and the beauty of the maker.
• Administration is to bring harmony to the different functions of one entity so that they may fulfil
their common purpose,
• Word is that which is spoken and comes into existence because the heart is full of it and it
overflows from the heart to the mouth.

The law, design, administration and word of lawlessness are the entire scheme of the enemy who fights
to resist the return of Jesus Christ to reign on Earth so that they may rule over the inhabitants of the
Earth and have dominion on Earth. They attempt this by the power of deception, which disciples of Jesus
have the authority to overcome. The secret power of lawlessness that our brother Paul spoke of is the
power of deception, which is setting itself up to oppose the return of Jesus Christ, which will build itself
by way of a web of intrigue through counterfeit signs, wonders and miracles.

This is why it is not possible to deceive the elect. We are given the understanding, knowledge and
wisdom to see through the design, administration and word of lawlessness by the law that is in his mind
and in his heart. We are like a radar picking up signals that transmit the law of lawlessness, so even
grandiose gestures like calling fire from Heaven cannot deceive us because we are not unaware of his
plans. We can see that when he:
• Sets up an image in honour of the beast for worship and he forces everyone to receive a mark on
their hand and foreheads so that they can buy and sell4;
• Abolishes the daily sacrifice and sets up the abomination that causes desolation in the wing of the
temple5;
• Shows favour to those who forsake the holy covenant and vent fury against the holy covenant6;

he does all this with the sole intention to dispossess the True Heir of God, Jesus, who is the Son of God
and the Son of Man, and break Scripture so that His words to His disciples in Matthew 5.13 will not be
fulfilled, “You are the salt of the Earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?
It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled by men.” Why? So that when
Jesus returns (“if He returns” in the mind of the false prophet), He will not find faith on Earth. For the
design of lawlessness is to stop His arrival to prevent His reign, and to kill Jesus if necessary.

But praise be to God and thank You Holy Spirit that this will never happen, not because of our
righteousness or integrity or anything that They have allowed us to do for/with Them, but because the
Lord will not let Himself by defamed or yield His glory to another.7 God will NOT yield the glory They have
for Each Other to another.

Therefore, in our application of law and prophecies, even signs, wonders and miracles, we are working
towards preparing the body of Christ for the coronation of the True Heir of God, the Firstborn, Jesus, who
is the Son of God and the Son of Man.

The declaration of the law of lawlessness is certainly NOT for us to practise and apply. Far be it that we
should do such a thing, for even the thought of it should repulse and agitate our hearts and spirits. But it
is declared because we have the authority to overcome the power of the enemy and to trample on
snakes and scorpions, and it is not possible to deceive the elect of the Holy Spirit, the Father of our
spirits.

So what is the law that is put in your mind and written on your heart?

Thank You Father for the power of the joy of the coronation of Your Son Jesus – our KING.
