Role: According to me, the teaching assistant will be under the supervision of
the teacher. The assistant must be patient, calm, able to communicate well
with not only the students but also the teacher. During the class time, the
teacher and teaching assistant will work as a team to achieve the classroom
goals.
2. What do you do on the first day of job: I will search for the information, read
the individual education plan for special students. Have a preliminary
meeting with the relevant teacher. But when the situations are beyond my
control, I also need to know ask for help.
3. Why do you want to be a teaching assistant: its simply because I love
children and I love teaching. You know, I used to be a volutary teacher at
Thien Chanh Pagoda, the children there were extremely cute and obedient.
And because of my tight schedule at that time, I couldnt go on teaching
anymore. However, I am going to reteach at Thien Chanh Pagoda this
summer.
4. Why do you want to work at this school: ila is one of the most prestigious
english school in vietnam and obviously I want to work in a professional
environment like that. Additionally, your school also have initiatives to make
the school happy and safe place for its pupils and staff.
5. If a child tells you that he or she is being harmed by someone outside school
what would you do: I would follow the safeguarding procedure of the school,
report the icident to the staff responsible but not disclose to anyone else. I
would try to reassure the child and keep them updated on whats happening.
6. How would you deal with a child who misbehaves in the classroom: I would
work closely with the class teacher to deal with the child in a consistent way. I
would use positive encouragement and praise good behaviour when possible
and follow the schools behaviour policy if things dont improve.
7. What would you do if a parent asked you a question about their child in the
playground after school: I would explain that I am not allowed to talk to
parents about individual children for reasons of confidentiality and would
direct the parent to arrange to speak to the class teacher.
8. How would you motivate a child with special education needs who doesnt
want to take part in classroom activities: I would try and be as positive as
possible with the child and encourage them to join in using stickers, reward
charts etc. and possibly a special mention in assembly for consistently hard
work.
9. Which skills would you like to develop: Technical, presentaion, time
management, shyness.
10.Your greatest strengths: attitude, cooperating, responsibility.

If you witness some bullying behaviour while on playground duty, what
actions would you take: You would of course act to stop any bullying and then
seek to follow the agreed procedure. The safety and security of the child is of
prime importance.

Can you explain the necessary skills to maintain order in class: have
acquired techniques from experience and in training. Know each childs name
so that I can communicate well and clearly with the class.
