MEC 4899 Final Year Project 2

Semester 2 2012-2013
1. Soft-Cover Report
All related files (in pdf format) described here are available in e_Learning
The soft-cover report should follow the guideline as described in the file :
- FYP_Report_Guidelines.pdf
Note that Appendix A, B and C of the file FYP_Report_Guidelines.pdf above
should be replaced by the cover and title page appropriate to your program
as described in the following files:
- Cover_and_Title_Page_Aero_Rev2.pdf (for Aerospace Engineering)
- Cover_and_Title_Page_Auto_Rev2.pdf (for Automotive Engineering)
The report entitles 30% of the FYP grading. The assessment of the report by
two examiners is based on the rubric as shown in file:
- Report Assessment Rubric - FYP.pdf
Each student should submit 2 (two) copies of the soft cover report. These
two reports are for two examiners, not for supervisor. If the supervisor asks for
the report, the student should submit directly to the respected supervisor.
Each student should fill in the approval form and should obtain the supervisor
approval signature. The approval form is available at MEC office, or can be
downloaded from e_Learning at the following file:

Each student should submit the report together with the FYP Log book and the
completed approval form to MEC Office on or before (TBD, See Schedule
Folder) at 17.00 pm.
2. Final Presentation
The presentation will be on (TBD, See Schedule Folder).
The detailed schedule is to be announced on e_Learning (TBD, See Schedule
Folder)
The presentation entitles 25% of the FYP grading
3. Poster Submission
The poster should follow the format available in the folder Poster Template.
Select one format among four formats available. Do not mix these formats.
Do NOT put your supervisor(s) name, even in the acknowledgement part.
Print in A1 and A4 size papers. Print both in colour.
If you work in a group, submit the poster per group, not individually.
Please look at the presentation rubric so that you can get good mark.
Please consult your supervisor for the title of your poster
The posters (A1 and A4) should be submitted to MEC Office on or before
(TBD, See Schedule Folder) at 17.00 pm.
4. Poster Presentation
The presentation will be on (TBD, See Schedule Folder).
Please be ready at least 15 minutes before the beginning of the presentation.

Please prepare yourself the laptop, model or other material to support your
poster presentation. But the poster itself should be enough to represent your
work.
Please look at the poster rubric so that you can get good mark.
The poster and its presentation entitles 15% of the FYP grading

5. Exit Survey
Each FYP2 student is mandatory to fill in the exit survey form on-line at the
following site:
http://staff.iium.edu.my/tsgunawan/exitsurvey.php

Please fill in the survey after final FYP presentation and before submitting
the hard cover report.
Please note that the policy for the exit survey may be different for other
Departments. The exit survey for MEC Department is required as part of
Accreditation program.

6. Hard-Cover Report
Each student is responsible to contact the two examiners of FYP presentation
to obtain their comments and corrections for the report.
The correction incorporated in the report should be shown to the supervisor

approval signature. The approval form is available at MEC office, or can be
downloaded from e_Learning at the following file:

The approval form should not be attached to the report
Each student should submit 3 (three) copies of the hard cover report which
will be distributed to MEC office, Resource Room and Supervisor.
Each student should submit the report together with one copy of the
completed approval form to MEC Office on or before (TBD, See Schedule
Folder) at 17.00 pm.
7. FYP2 Grade release
The FYP2 grade will be reported to the Kulliyyah of Engineering on (TBD, See
Schedule Folder) except to those students who do not complete the
requirements given in Sections (1) (6) above.
