Motivation Letter
How will studying at BIUST contribute to my life and
plans?
I have chosen to pursue MSC in Film Production and Multimedia at Botswana
International University of Science and Technology in order to gain further
expertise in the field of Multimedia technologies. I have graduated with BSc
(Hons) Computer Systems Engineering offered by University of Sunderland in
United Kingdom through Botswana Accountancy College and obtained Second
Class (first division) as shown in the transcript and certificate attached and now
I feel that I would like to devote my academic attention to more specialized
section of computing. I am strongly convinced that such an educational
background would help me achieve my future career goal, which is, ultimately,
to start a large scale multimedia production company that will change and
impact the business industry both locally and internationally.
During the course of my studies, I have always been actively seeking
opportunities to develop my skills beyond what was strictly required by the
curriculum. I enjoyed motivating and counselling my collegues which helped me
further improve my critical thinking and public speaking abilities. Not only did
I participate as a motivator in various domestic events but I also remained active
in Face The Nation, a non-governmental organization, an HIV/AIDS Intervention
Programme that utilizes the peer-education method to address behavioral
change among youth of Botswana. I also taught counselling at Letlhakane
Senior Secondary School and through all this valuable experience I learned how
to effectively present academic principles to audiences with diverse educational
and social backgrounds.My love for information Technology (IT) and graphic
designing has largely determined my professional aspirations and interests. I
possess a unique talent for delivering highly complex technical information into
terms and concepts that the end users can readily grasp. Furthermore, I am
multi-task oriented, enjoy a challenge, and continually stay abreast of the latest
advancements in the IT field. Through my counseling qualification and
experience I have learnt how to interact and work with students to ensure that
they perform at their best potential.
Later on, it was only a natural step for me to make use of the graphic designing
and programming skills in more business oriented arenas. As a result,
I participated in Botswana Young Innovators competition and was among the top
16 finalists that saw me recieving an award for it. The competition required me
to engage in the use of various graphical softwares and programming languages
. It was during my involvement with this competition that I became fully
fascinated by multimedia. Precisely because it is a very dynamic field of IT,
changing rapidly to address many communication challenges in the business
industry , it represents the art of technical reasoning at its very best. I also

worked as a Part time Junior Consultant (ODK Developer)

for DATA SORT
RESEARCH COMPANY (DSR) , under the Tebelopele Testing project called the
Botswana combination prevention project HIV testing and counseling (HTC)
system
Moreover, I am a well-rounded individual with an adaptable personality, good
interpersonal and communication skills that make me fit very well in different
places and with different people,
I strongly believe that I can offer much more to the company with my specialized
knowledge of a variety of software, passion for coding and programming, more
especially in the field of multimedia applications design and computer science
problem solving.
I have a particular interest in eploring the scope of multimedia and film
production. Therefore, this course offered at BIUST would help me gain a further
insight into these up-to-date areas of IT. Moreover, my degree thesis was
concerned with evaluating the current IT technologies to improve security and
monitoring of business transactions. During my studies at BIUST, I would like to
continue the research started in my thesis and explore the integration of
multimedia technologies in the day-to day running of businesses to increase
thier reach and profits.
Secondly, I have worked extensively with The University Of Botswana Learning
and Living Communities(UB LLC) by designing two posters for the events they
hosted.
After I finish my postgraduate education, I would like to serve the IT industry
and my country given the opportunity . I would like to expand my already
registerd company to change and impact the business industry both locally and
internationally, offer services in relation to multimedia and production. In the
long term, I have a strong preference of making a breakthrough in the
international market and offer these services to companies in SADC, Africa and
eventually the world. I specially appreciate the efforts of the government on
empowering the youth with programs that will see them standing up for
themselves to be the cream of this country. What I recenly see as the biggest
problem is the efficiency of international market and therefore I would like to
contribute through my work to the development of appropriate enforcement
mechanisms.
It is said that for a career in Multimedia and film production, a top quality Msc
degree is almost a must, and in this respect, BUIST is an obvious choice for me.
It represents an essential stage of my education which complements well my
previous studies and work, but it also opens a lot of new doors and provides
opportunities for me to develop professionally and personally to achieve my
career goals.
