X-bee BASED Wireless Telemetry

Introduction:
In this project we are monitoring the speed of any wheel
wirelessly using X Bee modules. The speed is displayed at both
ends on the LCD.
DESCRIPTION:
IR sensors are used to sense the speed of the wheel. There is a
cut at the edge of the wheel from where the IR can pass. Using
this arrangement the speed is measured by the microcontroller
and also it is transmitted at the other end using X Bee modules.

Atmega 168
The ATmega16 is a low-power CMOS 8-bit microcontroller based
on the AVR enhanced RISC architecture. By executing powerful
instructions in a single clock cycle, the ATmega16 achieves
throughputs approaching 1 MIPS per MHz
allowing the system designed to optimize
power consumption
Versus processing speed. The AVR core
combines a rich instruction set with 32 general
purpose working registers. All the 32 registers
are directly connected to the Arithmetic Logic
Unit (ALU), allowing two independent registers
to be accessed in one single instruction
executed in one clock cycle. The resulting
architecture is more code efficient while achieving throughputs up
to ten times faster than conventional CISC microcontrollers.
X Bee:
Zig Bee is the standards-based wireless technology designed to
address the unique needs of low-cost, low-power wireless sensor
and control networks in just about any market. ZigBee can be
used almost anywhere, is easy to implement and needs little
power to operate. With hundreds of members around the globe,
ZigBee uses the 2.4 GHz radio frequency to deliver a variety of
reliable and easy-to-use standards anywhere in the world. ZigBee
is a specification for a suite of high le vel communication
protocols using small, low-power digital radios based on the IEEE
802.15.4-2003 standard for wireless home area networks
(WHANs), such as wireless light switches with lamps, electrical

meters with in-home-displays, consumer electronics equipment

via short-range radio. The technology defined by the ZigBee
specification is intended to be simpler and less ex pensive than
other WPANs, such as Bluetooth. ZigBee is targeted at radiofrequency (RF) applications that require a low data rate, long
battery life, and secure networking.
