Equipment Management
Most of the major equipment will be hired from the ministry of public workers.
Qualified personnel will be in charge of operating them and maintaining them in
good working condition.
The equipment will be deployed to site immediately according to the contract
requirements.

Method statement
1. To detail method for culvert and drainage works
Laying culvert pipes
Once the position and depth of the trench have been set out, the
excavation will be carried out securing the sides as required.
The foundations for the headwalls will be completed up to bed level on
both sides before starting the construction of the culvert bed.
The exact position of the foundation for the headwalls will be carefully
measured from the centre line of the road.
Erect formwork
The bedding surface class15/20 concrete will be placed compacted and
cured accordingly.
The pipes will be laid on the prepared bed. Ropes will be used to drop
them to so that damage does not occur.
After laying the complete run, the joints are sealed with cement mortar
ensuring flushness in the inner surface.
Lay BRC and concrete the aprons accordingly.
The wing walls and headwalls will then be constructed.
Lastly backfilling will be done after engineegrs approval.

To detail method for Grading and gravelling works

The site supervisor will be in charge of the works. He
will be responsible for the safety of the workers, the
equipment and the public.
He will ensure traffic will not be disrupted by ensuring
an alternative route is available
Grading
The operator of the grader will grade the existing road
according to the instruction of the supervisor, providing

sufficient driving surface, camber and water drainage

channels.
Wearing course
Good quality murram will be provided from borrow pits. It will
be stacked, then spread in layers of 150mm, wetted and
compacted using rollers.
The fnal profle will be provided by using the grader to give
a camber of 4%
Drainage
Side drains will be provided by use of grader to collect
the water from road surface.
Mitre drains will be provided to divert the water from
the side drains to low areas to minimize erosion.
Scour checks will be provided at determined intervals.
Scour checks
Excavate trenches across side drains as required.
Place blinding as instructed.
Erect formwork.
Mix and place concrete as instructed.
Cure the concrete.
Struck off the form.

Safety
The supervisor will be responsible for the safety of the
workers and the public.
Unsafe areas will be fenced off and access limited to
necessity.
The workers will be taken through safety induction and
risk involved will be identifed and mitigation measure
put in place.
Safety compliance will be enforced and workers will be
required put on personal safety clothing throughout the
period they will be in place of work.

Signing of
The site agent will inspect the works be handing over to
the client.
