CONCEPT

Keeping in mind the clients brief it is envisaged to have a Super Speciality Block
having lower and upper ground, five upper floors and a separate Oncology Block
having ground and four upper floors. Both the buildings have H shaped plans
comprising of two T shaped wards. These wards are an improvement over the
existing ward design with a standardized 6.6 x 6.6 m. grid.
As the proposed site is a good 2.0 m. below the existing ward block it is
proposed to lower the entire site level by 1.2 m. which gives us an additional
lower ground floor as well as converts the basement in the existing ward block to

more user friendly lower ground floor. This can accommodate dormitories for
patients relatives along with other uses the layout is planned in such a way that
there is ample scope for expansion in the future for both the Super Speciality as
well as the Oncology Block.
The Super Speciality Block is desiged with special attention to circulation &
patient safety and comfort. There are separate entrances for OPD,IPD and
services. There is adequate vertical communication in the form of bed lifts ,
passenger lifts and service lift along with three fire escape stairs and a ramp. The
building is well connected with the existing hospital at first to fourth floor levels
to allow easy access to staff, faculty and transfer of patients to and from the new
block. The block houses OPDs on the lower and upper ground floor, inpatient ward
block on first and second floors and operation theatre block with the
accompanying ICUs, HDUs and CSSD on the third, fourth and fifth floors.
