Please send along with this form copies of recommendations from churches which will encourage
other churches to support your missionary work. There are churches which will not allow a
visiting missionary to speak unless a church recommendation can be shown. Since it is impos
sible for any one person to know all Christians in the world, this recommendation by a respon
sible New Testament church is a vital help in persuading others of your worthiness and the value
of your mission. Mission Services stands ready to help you inform HORIZONS readers about
your church recommendations. Since the church is sending you to the mission field (Acts 13:1-3)
and will help provide the necessary needs on the field, naturally the church should share the
credit in your missionary ministry. One of the ways that the church can do this is to share their
conviction regarding your missionary ministry with others. Certainly, their words will help
convince others regarding the worthiness of your work. Please help MISSION SERVICES to
spread your news through HORIZONS, Packets and Slide library by sending your church recom
mendations. as soon as possible. Thanks. Send what you have now, and the others later.

Jim went on to attend the University

of Oregon and it was while a student there, that he came to know the Lord. Shortly,
after coming to Christ Jim traveled throughout Europe for three months studying the
people and the cultures. He moved to Seattle and went into Insurance sales and
management. A promising career was developing when he and Sandy gave their lives

to specialized Christian service during Wi-Ne-Ma Week of Missions in August of 19^9

In September of that year Jim enrolled full-time at Puget Sound College of the
Bible where he completed his undergraduate study. Both Jim and Sandy spent the

summer of 1972 in Brazil as missionary yj^Bis...of the Bible College. He was

associate minister at Issaquah Christian Church for a yecir and then pastored there
from July, 1971 until July, 1973 when he and Sandy began to concentrate on raising
funds to return to Brazil.

as house-wife and mother, including the many opportunities of service that are joys
of one who is married to a missionary.

They departed for the Brazilian field in March of 197^? and have since located
in the city of Uberlandia in the State of Hinas Gerais, Brazil.

There they are

Jim and Sandy have two lovely children, a girl, Mistie Lee, three and a half,

the mission field. Mistie is attending a Brazilian pre-school where she is
rapidly learning Portuguese.

and are laboring in Uberlandia with the Sturgeons.

They are a sfifendid

young couple who have been .^ent out by the Issaquah Christian Church, Issaquah, Wash. ^
This is a coD?)aratively new church and Mr. Bunch was their first full time minister,

and this church is sponsoring him and supporting him partially on the mission field.

Other churches in the Puget Sound Area co-operate in providing enough monthly support

I hope there will be space in future Issue of the Horlaona to give some publicity to

What things influenced you to become a missionary?

(Jim)
In brief, after my conversion in I966, I began to seek my place of
sea^vice, I came to realize that Christ wanted more than just my occasional
participation in Church activities, I was maarried to Sandy in I968, while
I was working in the Insurance business in Seattle. WA, We joined a local

the foaxseful influence of Dick and Cay Ewing, They weare foirmer missionaal.es

Mission Department at Puget Sound College of the Bible,
Soon I became chaiaanan of the Mission's Committee, a job Dick was
happy to give up. His schedule was plenty full anyway. We then began taking
evening coiaarses at the Bible College in Missions, We got excited about Missions
and soon when I had the oppoaliunity to staart a new office in Bellingham, about
80 miles noalih, I took the oppoartunity to move theare and work with the new Broadway
Chal-stian Chuaxjh as well. We settled down and even bought a home. However,
our stay was something less than lengthy. After only tha:^e months of residency
we attended Wi-Ne-Ma week of Missions on the Oregon Coast, There, in answer to
