Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out,
when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

Matt. 8:26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he
arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

Isa. 44:3a For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry
ground:

Glorious God and Precious Redeemer:

The gospel is always in season, always appropriate, always on time. Help me
even today to testify from my heart, because then it is guaranteed to work its way
so the times of refreshing shall come. Saturate me with the name and person and glory
of the Lord Jesus Christ, for he is worthy!
Grant __________ and __________ repentance unto life (Acts 11:18); do it
this week. Repentance means they change their mind, or as one ancient translator
put it, they have after-wit, or after-wisdom. Make them recognize they are wrong in
sin, and change their judgment about themselves and their need for your grace.
Repentance is to leave the sins we loved before,
And show that we in earnest grieve, by doing so no more.
Make me discover the real evil of my own sin. Give me a grieving that I
ever committed it. Allow me a resolution to forsake it. Make me love what I once
ridiculed and despised, and hate what I once loved. If conversion means to turn
around, then I have to turn from sin and turn to your holinessa complete
turn-around. When the prodigal came to himself, that was repentance. But when
he finally left the far country and came home to confess his sorry state to his
father, that was conversion. Repentance is the door to the complete conversion I
so desperately need! I can rely on nothing other than my new natureyour
divine natureto give me strength for revival. Help me not stop short of that;
not to just change my mind, but to become that new creature you promised me
to be (Gal 6:15) and promote me to be. Make me alive by your life Jesus, living by
the faith of the son of God, for I crave that level of revival right now. Amen.

Merciful Master:
Deal with the root cause of my fears. The real danger is not the winds and
waves sweeping around me. It is not the lack of money, lack of help, lack of rest,
or presence of confusion and loneliness. It is my unbelief! There is more
personal peril in my own unbelief than in my worst circumstances.
To you, all things are possible. But it must be an easier miracle to calm
weather itself than to still the confusion raised in my mind by doubt and distrust.
Teach me Lord, that when I have a battle with troubleof any kindI have to
start with myself. I have to begin by addressing my own fears, mistrusts,
suspicions of you, selfishness, and self-will. What counseling! All the tragedy in
the world cannot hurt me half as much as a grain of unbelief. Give me grace to
take exactly this viewpoint of unbelief, because if I let you master my soul, you
will also master everything that opposes me. Let trust in your love melt all my
fears. It is both absurd and wicked for me to set a limit on your power.
What is my life but a constant repetition of floundering and flubbing? Yet
you Lord have shown your marvelous skill in creation, you have shown your
wondrous wisdom in redemption, and you have shown your power in
providence. How can I even begin to believe you could miscalculate or miss the
mark at which you aim, or in any way make an error? Help me throw away all
dishonoring thoughts I have of you as I hear you say, Why are you fearful, O you of
little faith? My difficulties are of your sending. My trials are all of your making.
Help me now completely rely on your power, outside of the peril!
These things I ask that I may honor Jesus Christ today. Amen.

Lord and Lover, Master, Friend:

Oh that you would raise the floodgates right now! Let a torrent of grace
rush through our church! You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above what
I ask, or even imagine. You give liberally and upbraid not. My abounding sin
needs an abounding holiness from your Spirit. My abounding death and weakness
need an abounding life and power. I open my mouth wide in request that you
might fill it in abundance.
Today I take your promise just as it stands, and present my plea at the
throne of grace. Have you not said you will pour water on the thirsty and floods
on the dry? I do not have to be wet before you will water me; I have to be dry!
My spiritual dryness is its own evidence you are ready to answer my prayer.
Parents can latch onto the points of this promise, because it is made to thy
seed and thine offspring. I do not make enough of this promise in praying for revival
for my spiritual and physical children.
Grace is not inherited. Revival is a personal matter. A child is not godly
because he or she is born to godly parents (or have a godly discipler). Lord, I
need you to speak to their heart directly that they may respond to you personally!
The promise is to them, Lord. Have pity on my offspringmy spiritual and
physical fruitfor you have said you will do this for them.
The certain result is a wellspring of spiritual life, and wherever the water
goes the fruit is sure to follow. Make this an especially fruitful spring for me and
for my children. Give us life in our church, life in our ministries, life in our
discipleship, life in our prayer, life in our holiness, and life in love to you. Amen.

A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING

Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Kings 10-12; Luke 20:1-23
Thursday, April 30
Gen. 9:8-9 And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying, And I,
behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;

MY hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness.

I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly trust in Jesus name.
When darkness seems to hide His face, I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale, my anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
His oath, His covenant, His blood, support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way, He then is all my hope and stay.
When He shall come with trumpet sound, Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone, faultless to stand before the throne.
On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
Edward Mote, 1834

1 Sam. 17:37 David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of
the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine.
Eternal Lord and Master:
David spoke a word, and you had his back by making it come true. Can we
do today what he did then? We argue from past deliverances that we should
receive help for every treacherous way we face right now, and so we pray.
2 Cor. 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the
glory of God by us.
In Jesus, all your previous dealings with your believing people will be
repeated. Can we not recall your former loving-kindnesses? There were times we
had no hope to be delivered by our own power, yet you saved us. Will you not
save again? We are sure of it. As David ran to meet his foe, so let us do! You
have been with us, you are with us, and you have said,
Heb. 13:5 I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Why do we tremble? Was our past deliverance a dream? Let us remember
back to the dead bear and the dead lion. Yes who IS this Philistine? True, he is
not quite the same as the bear, and he is bigger than the lion. But God is the
same; only circumstances change. Lord, your honor is as much bound up with
our deliverance now as is was back then. You did not save us from wild beasts
just to let a giant slay us. No. We can be of good courage because the credibility
of Christ is at stake.
Lord, your glory shows! Help us use every trial and every resulting
deliverance as a stepping-stone to witness to the community. We not only want
to be alive; we want to bear fruit for you in Gods Eternal Purpose.
Allow it in Jesus gracious name. Amen.

Psa. 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
O Lord and Mighty Redeemer:
Not only do you give me power for what I have to do, but you guarantee
me assistance in those times I cannot act alone. So Lord, you must help me today.
I need strength within to be supplemented by aid withoutfrom somebody. I
thank you Lord for raising-up allies out of our church for me. So many times you
send me human assistance through disciplers or counselors or comrades. You
yourself are at my side by your Spirit, and this is better still.

Your help is timely

Isa. 41:10 yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of
my righteousness.

Your help is wise

Gen. 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be
alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

Your help is effective

Psa. 60:11 Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.

Your help is more than help, because you bear all the burden of
success, and supply all the needs along the way
Heb. 13:6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear
what man shall do unto me.
Since you have already been my help and saved me, I feel confident as your
child. My prayer is, Lord, be thou my helper. My experience is, The Spirit also helpeth
mine infirmities. My expectation is, I will lift up mine eyes to the hills whence cometh my
help. And my song shall be, Thou, Lord, hast helped me. Let me connect that
testimony to your gospel as my witness to the word of your grace. Amen!

HOW TO BUILD A BALANCED LIFE

THIS WEEKS EVENTS & ACTIVITIES

PRAYER DIARY

TIMEWORSHIP
Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and
departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is
to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily
devotions.
2)

TITHEWORK
1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as
God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions

asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come
off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the
firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our
resources.
3)

TEAMWORD
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;
but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship
with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

QUALITY CHRISTIANITY INVOLVES THREE THINGS

Keeping Christ at the center (your core relationship of worship to God)

Keeping the body of Christ a priority (your congregational relationship of
walking with us)
Basing beliefs and actions on the mind of Christ (your church relationship in
the Word)

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because
they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are
no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the
same things over and over.
This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you
might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to
God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you
through the Bible chronologically in a year.
Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then
you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in
the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard
for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the
time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
