1 CLEAN AND STERILIZE YOUR SURROUNDINGS

Wash and sterilize your hands before working with the MushPonic components.
If any part of the MushPonic kit comes in contact with unwanted bacteria, your
mushroom ecosystem may become contaminated. Our MushPonic system comes
with gloves that should be worn at all times while handling the jars or system to avoid
contamination.

2 PREPARING YOUR MUSHROOM SUBSTRATE CAKES

Your MushPonic grow chamber can be used as a jar colonization
incubator.

2 WEEKS

Fill the grow chamber with the hydroton and enough clean water
to fully submerge the electric heater (see Step 6). Set the heater
to 86 degrees Fahrenheit (see Step 6 for an example on how to
set the heater). Inject 1.5mL- 2.0mL of spore solution into each jar
through the micropore tape. You can put more than the 6 jars that
were included with the kit into your MushPonic. The substrate jars
come PRE-STERILIZED.
*** NOTE We do not provide Spores with any Kit. We recommend
an edible mushroom spore from BestSpores.com

After you inject edible mushroom spores into your jars, place
the jars into the grow chamber on top of the hydroton. Place the
grow chamber and jars in a DARK PLACE for the duration of the
colonization process (10-20 days). You may place the chamber in a
garbage bag to simulate darkness.

After approximately 2 weeks, the specialized substrate inside the jars will
transform into a milky white substance. The white cotton-like substance is
called mycelium. When all of the substrate has become overrun with white
mycelium, your cakes are ready to be placed inside the MushPonic!

GROWING YOUR MUSHROOMS

You will need
Clean Water, Plastic Wrap, Colonized Mycelium Cakes

You can use as many

cakes as you want without
crowding the grow Chamber.

3 SETTING UP THE MUSHPONIC ECOSYSTEM

Place the empty MushPonic grow chamber on a
table or surface in a clean area.
DO NOT plug in the heater until youve completed
Step 5! The heater will burn out if its not fully
submerged in water.

4 INSTALLING THE AIR FLOW PUMP

Remove the MushPonics lid. At
the top left side of the lid, there
will be a small circular opening
for the clear tubing to pass
through.
Once the tubing is through the
lids hole, attach the air stone by
inserting it into the clear tubing.
Push the air stone down inside
far enough to touch the base of

the grow chamber (it will be submerged in

the water and hydroton).
Insert the other end of the clear tubing
inside the air pump that sits outside of the
grow chamber.
Do not turn on the pump until youve
completed Step 5. Once turned on you
should be able to see air bubbles coming
up from the hydroton rocks

5 HUMIDIFICATION MEDIUM
Add the hydroton rocks to the MushPonics grow chamber. The electric heater and air stone should
be submerged in the hydroton.
Fill the grow chamber with water right up to the top of the hydroton. The water should sit just below
the top layer of the hydroton.

6 SETTING THE TEMPERATURE

Set the temperature on the electric heater on low heat. Your goal range should
be between to 70-75 degrees Farenheit. Double check after a few hours that the
temperature remains constant.
Attach the digital thermometer to
the MushPonic where you can see it
clearly. The thermometer will allow you
to carefully monitor any, temperature
jumps so you can adjust the heater
accordingly.

7 PLACING THE CAKES AND FRUITING YOUR MUSHROOMS

When your substrate cakes are fully colonized with mycelium, its time to remove them from the jars
and place them inside the MushPonic. Place the colonized mycelium substrate cakes directly onto
the top layer of hydroton. Its okay if water touches the base of the cake.
***OPTIONAL - To help trap humidity inside the MushPonic place plastic wrap over the grow
chambers vents. The seal around the vents does not have to be tight, the idea is to simply block
moisture from escaping through the top vents.
Over the following weeks, the water level will decrease due to evaporation. Whenever you notice
the water level declining, simply add water to restore the level back to where it was just beneath
the top layer of hydroton.
During this fruiting stage, the cakes/mushrooms need regular cycles of light. TURN ON the
mushroom light for about SIX HOURS per day at regular intervals.
You will need to do this for as long as your cakes are fruiting.
In 1 - 2 weeks you will notice your colonized substrate cakes
will enter the PINNING stage (small mushroom heads will
start to form in random groupings). Your mushroom pins
could mature and start to fruit in just a few days!
Pick the mushrooms when the veils start to
break. Congrats on your new mushrooms!

the jars, the same jars may
be re-injected and reused
up to 4 times! * Just make
sure there is no mold or
contamination growth.
