General information
The NedGraphics Basics setup contains general software required for all NedGraphics
applications. This includes the LeadTools software (for reading and writing general image
formats like BMP, JPG, TIFF) and software required by the installation programs
(InstallShield).
If you don't have the Basics installed on your system, the application software will neither
install nor run correctly!

Installation remarks
In order to successfully install NedGraphics software, you need to follow a certain sequence:

Install the Microsoft .NET Framework. See the next section for an explanation.
Install the NedGraphics Basics
Install the Hardlock drivers
Install the NedGraphics application(s).

The Basics software must be installed before you install other Nedgraphics software. If you
don't do this, the application installation program will try to download required software from

the Internet. This will take a long time and it is most likely not even fully correct (as we don't
control this). The Basics set contains everything required for a smooth installation process.
The Hardlock drivers are used to protect our software. You have received a dongle from
NedGraphics, this dongle must be present on your system when you want to install or run
NedGraphics software. If the dongle is not present, damaged or incorrectly installed, you will
get an error message when you try to start an application.

The .NET Framework

A few years ago Microsoft has introduced the .NET Framework. This is a (technical)
framework that allows software companies to write better maintainable and more flexible
software. Since then, more and more software vendors have started developing software
using this new platform. This is one of the most important changes that Microsoft made since
the introduction of Windows.
NedGraphics is busy making use of the new features and benefits of this environment. In next
releases we will continue with this as we feel and believe that it brings us new opportunities
for creating better and more flexible software.
To be able to use .NET-compatible elements in NedGraphics software, the actual Microsoft
.NET Framework software needs to be installed once on every system. This software is more
or less an extension to Windows. Without this software, certain elements will not work.
We have provided this software on our website, in English. Microsoft itself provides the
software in much more languages, so if you prefer a localized version of this software, please
visit the Microsoft website (www.microsoft.com) and search for Microsoft .NET Framework.
As the location of this software on the Microsoft website is subject to change, we cannot give
you the complete URL, were sorry for this inconvenience.
As other companies are doing the same thing, it might be that the .NET environment is
already installed on your system. The easiest way to find out is to just install the Basics 2.24
software (or a higher version). The installation program checks for the existence of the .NET
framework. If it is not present on your system, you will get a message telling you to install
this framework.
After installing the .NET Framework, you can again install the Basics and complete the
installation. After that you can continue installing other software packages.
