An Unspoken Law
Humans tend to be selfish by thinking that a good life can be achieved by weighing
the benefits received against what we lay on the table. We are always taught that paybacks
should better the costs. Basically, thats what we learned in business lectures inside a fourcornered room and the common tendency of every individual is expecting that such
learnings can be applied in everything, including life itself. One must know that to speak
about life means to understand the unexplainable mastery of lifes mysteries which we
always encounter every day. Life doesnt just mean the gift given by God which we must live
each day; it includes the act of thinking, moving and most especially, feeling.
It is but normal for a person to dream big. There comes a time in your life when you
wanted to have someone so much that you would be willing to do everything for him. This is
the most clich and yet the core meaning of life living for a reason. Its a time where you
are motivated and determined because at last, you get an inspiration to strive harder. In the
process, you have the chance to do something for the first time. Its normal to actually think
first before deciding what the first step must be because you cant do something without
getting assurance to have more in return. Time, efforts and most often, your pride are the
ones you gamble in order to get this persons attention. Some would aim for material things
fame, honor, and success. Here, its not just to stress your time and efforts but hopes as
well because to reach for something higher means giving up what you have for something
better. Thats what businessmen do they are willing to sacrifice in order to get what they
want, but they need to give up just enough in order to gain more. Lets face the fact that in
life: You dont actually get something more by just giving up enough.
Life is very complex and different from the principles learned because in reality you
have to give half of yourself just to get a little in return. You need to erase the concept of
thinking about your own benefits and learn to give others more because doing otherwise
would earn you no blessing at all. Weighing the cost from what you can receive dont even
make sense because even when we gave it all, theres no sign of getting anything. Its
because you dont control life itself; you may have a little part in it but the truth is that
nobody can quantifiably measure how much he can get by the things he had given. There
are times when you think you are doing the right thing and it turns out that you deserve the
least. There is no such thing as optimum structure where one sacrifice bear a heavier
weight than the others youve surrendered. Ironically, the little things you do are the main
reason why you get something unexpectedly. Sometimes, the burden of expecting too much
is also the primary cause of our failure to appreciate what we have. We mistakenly
anticipate something more believing that we have given the right amount of costs in
achieving such dream. In life, theres no accountable costs but only abstract ones.
Business call it cost of capital but lifes unspoken law tells you to apply it in its
completely reversed way because for others, doing business is life but life is not a
business at all.
