Before Use

(Be sure to read)

Misuse of this testing machine may arises serious accident. This following
precautions must be refer to avoid injury or dangers bring to the personal or
damage to the devise. Be sure to read this manual carefully and well understand
the contents before operation. JT THOSI assumes no liability for the obstacle
occurred by failure to comply with requirement.
1. Operation surroundings
Do not install the machine with undermentioned surroundings.
- Unstable place, such as ground surface or operation area is not level.
- The place with induced obstacle of operation, due to smaller space than
the area show on the specification.
- The place with high temperature and humidity, corrosive gas or dusts.
Severe conditions area with fluctuation of power supply more than rated
voltage.
- The place recognized by our service man for not suitable to install.
2. Reinstall (Movement)
- Ask us for movement or reinstall the machine.
3. Power Supply
- Be sure to use rated power supply shown on the specification of this
testing machine.
- Make sure to connect the protective grounding (earth).
- Do not remove power source plug from the plug socket while operating
the machine.
- If machine is not in use for long period, cut off the power source switch.
- Do not give a load to the power source supply, such as step on power
source cable or etc.
4. Operations of machine
- For operations of this machine, operate carefully with well understand the
contents of cautions for handling. Handling procedures also, especially
careful for the warning labels descriptions.
- Select the test piece for safety test is possible with the test method
determined by the official standard material of J.I.S. or etc. According to
the material, may need aging of material for prevent scatters of test
piece.
- Do not use this machine for the purpose other than the tester.
5. Maintenance and Inspection.
- Carry out the maintenance according to maintenance, inspection of this
manual. Also, do not modify or disassemble the machine (including
electric wiring and hydraulic piping) other than contents of manual. Please
ask for us maintenance. Inspection or Repair. We can not take
responsibility or guarantee for decreased of or accuracy of
testing mechine.

Warning Labels
For the safety operation of the machine. Warning labels are attached to the
following descriptions.
1. Regarding safety symbols.
Handling with care or danger. These labels are attached to the places
necessary to refer the instruction manual for protect the personnel,
peripheral devices and this machine. Follow the explanations, when operating
the machine.
Electrical Shock. These labels are attached to the control panel or distribution
panel. Never touch these panels except our authorized engineer.
2. Expressions of Warning
Following are classification of Warning expressions use for our products.
Classification is determined by the degrees of estimated danger, however
warning of label must be follow irrespective to the classification.
May consider the heavy injury or death of personnel in case of wrong
handling, and indicated cautions of extremely emergency of arises danger.

handling is misuse. (Background: Orange)
Indicated the matters of caution may caused injury of personnel or damages
on instrument if misuse. (Background: Yellow)
3. Positions of attached

warning labels are missing or unable to read the indications of labels, we will
send replacement with costs.
1. Cautions for handling
1.1
For safe use operations for test
- Basic works for load frame
1. Movement of crosshead. Upward or downward of ram, sufficiently use
care for the people surrounding and obstacles.
2. Do not apply impact load to the test piece. Sudden valve control is
prohibited.
3. In case of operate testing machine, be sure to confirm that any peoples
are not around the testing machine load frame.
4. While testing, operator must be monitored the testing at the front of
control console.
- While suspend testing
1. In the case of an emergency, remove load by turn the loading knob to
return direction for stop testing. Cautions while testing.
- Tensile test
1. Do not put on anything on the table when carry out the tensile test, as
scattered to surrounding by the shock of rupture.
2. Following 2 points must be confirmed before start tensile test.
1) Suitable chucks are using for test piece.
2) Test piece is chucking properly.

Compression test
1. Install suitable cover for test piece scattered by compression.
- Bending test (Need bending test device of option)
1. Fc material is break and danger, so fasten test piece by string or rope
others.
- Materials
1. In case of testing the materials different to the normal metal material,
such as hardness or permissible stress value is extremely high, etc.
install suitable cover. (we are able to make as a option, so please
consult to us).
For use without troubles
YU load frame
- Basic works of load frame
1. Never apply load to the test piece by movement of crosshead.
2. For change of attachment or device, execute by upward the ram about
10 mm.
- Tensile test
1. After some tests, clean the surrounding of upper or lower chucks
always, as burrs occurred by ruptured test piece may adhered.
- Compression test
1. Place test piece on the center of compression plate.
- Bending test (Required bending jig of option).
1. Attach test piece vertically to the bending roller.
- Concrete 4 point bending test
(need concrete 4 point bending test jig of option).

SIII type control console

Use SHEEL teracce oil C150 (220) for operating oil. Do not mix with other
kind of oil.
Oil volume must be more than 70% (about) of the oil level gauge. (When
ram unit is most lower position).
For maintain accuracy of loads and obtain accurate test results, perform
periodical inspections once a year.

Material
1. In case of testing material is different to the normal metal material,

3. Operation Procedures

Test preparations (common to tensile, compression & bending tests)

1. Turn on power source

- Primary power source ON

- Breaker located at left side of control console ON
2. Worming up
- Pump switch on the manual control panel ON. Operate about 10-15 min
- Press AUTO SET UP key on the Auto Control Panel. At this time, ram
upward about 50 mm and downward until position ORIGIN lamp
illuminated and stops.
Procedure of manual operation after operating Hydraulic Pump
1. For circulate oil well, up or down ram about 50 mm. (Repeat return open
of loading knob 2-3 times).
2. Open loading knob.
3. Confirm light on of origin lamp, after upward ram about 10 mm.

- Finished worming up
3. Attaching of various jigs.
- For handling of various jigs refer instructions of YU loading frame.
Undermentioned must be confirmed
1. Loading knob must be at return position before pump ON
2. Never bump upper and lower crosshead when up or down ram.

1. Outline
This is hydraulic system universal material testing machine to perform
tensile, compression, bending, concrete 4 point bending and concrete
compression tests of metal materials and various industrial materials.
(bending, concrete 4 point bending and concrete compression test jig of
optimal accessories are necessary).
The testing machine has following features.
1. Removed frictions of ram and cylinder by floating ram mechanism, can be
