1. 1.

Stimulate new research perspectives for the humanities and social

science communities

The post alphabetical, non linear, non hierarchical, bottom up,

participatory approach of the research, invites all citizens to engage to
social processes and become an integral part of the project, thus
promoting gender and minority equality.
The data is originated by crowdsourcing techniques and based on personal
story telling and urban narratives. Involving cultural groups and minorities
and different age groups the project aims to secure an open, direct and
representative participation. Data is collected through interviews that
young children are asked to take from their elder relatives, through self
positioning in front of interactive screens through the web. Participatory
mapping and web mapping are used in order to link physical places to
historical or personal memories.

2. Promote further the use of digital cultural heritage allowing its reinterpretation
towards the development of new shared culture in Europe.

The project seeks to reconnect broken bonds of cultural minorities by

establishing a powerful nexus through the digital projection of their
collected narratives in the physical space of the city.
The project proposes an unceasing transformation of collected data that is
never finally stored but remains always open to further interpretation,
comments and even refutation by other users although without losing its
attachment to the tangible places of the city thaT INSTIGATED THEIR
INITIAL recording. The public can continue to record, comment and
interact, using mobile, web and analog applications created for that
purspose. This constant flow of data will restore lost community bonds and
knowledge concerning the common past that has been register in the
urban space and also its history.

3. Provide innovative and creative methods for approaching cultural assets

4.) Generate applications and services to access and exploit the rich and diverse
European digital cultural heritage in a sustainable way.
We use location based media to connect the collected narratives to the
places where one is found. Participatory mapping is also used to create
new forms of representation where the actual experience of the place is
crucial. Of course, digital and analog are not separate and independent
spheres but rather they configure our new hybrid environment.

The creation of this digital platform with its spatial connections and
extensions, that the program proposes, is a basis for future activities that
will activate the locals and simultaneously offer them new occupations,
and also become a point of interest for visitors both ways benefiting social
and economic growth.

The project brings together distant but related fields, using scientific
diversity as a tool. Scientific networking among different disciplines,
creating a laboratory for experimenting in possibilities of coexistence of
the digital and physical aspects of the city.
The programs structure adopts a methodology that encloses the
cooperation with important factors of society. Education locals community
and local cultural institutions.
The research will be conducted by an interdisciplinary team, which
consists in an active network of collaborators from different fields. The
cooperation of different scientific partners from various scientific fields will
provide combined results, able to offer an integrated, multilevel approach.
Intersections among art, interactive technologies, digital spheres,
narratives, history and the city offer possibilities for the creation of new
synapses and progress in each of the fields individually and in all of them
as a single framework.
The interactive and interdisciplinary network consisting of architects,
urban designers, artists, historians, software engineers, is a network of
active academics and researchers that ensures excellent complementarity
and innovative creativity and optimal productivity.

6. New forms of digital entertainment and engagement based on cultural

heritage.

The implementation of the proposal aims to create an additional layer of

immaterial events that configure an expanded intelligent environment
where the citizens, as well as visitors, can immerse in a fusion of different
temporalities cultures and realities.
The visitor is not a spectator but a protagonist, he feels immersed in an
enriched somatic experience that affects him as a totality.

This proposal re-examines the relation between public space and

interactive media and their possibility of merging, in order to create an
augmented scenario where a story is told.
The proposal combines the traditions, legends and history of the city
with a creative narrative web, built through interactive multisensorial
public space artistic installations. These installations add an invisible layer
to this palimpsest that does not affect the materiality of the city. Thus, it
permits the construction of an open city museum with immaterial limits
through the appropriation of the public sphere without altering its
character, capable of transforming into multi-sensory interfacing
experiences for the spectators that want to engage it. This transparent
layer added to the city emerges from the city itself, projects and reflects
its history and through the use of technological media, creates a dreamlike
atmosphere for the spectator where history and tradition interact with
contemporary art and urban environment

7. Cross border, cross lingual, cross sector digital expoiltation of Europes

digital cultural assets.

The project combines all these instruments in order to revive public space
and reconnect the cultural groups of the community by restoring the
collective memories and the acceptance of the otherness as a structural
characteristic of every community.
The proposal for the project aims in the restoration of the connections
betewwn coexisting people of different nationalities through the
reactivation of multi cultural events and stories that have taken place in
the citys urban spaces. The insertion and interconnection of (lost and
existing) fragments of the citys multi-cultural tradition, memory an history
aims to nurtue and redefine the relationship between inhabitants, history
and public space, and to revive the citys multicultural memories leading
to a new perception of its identity

The creation of this digital platform with its spatial connections and
extensions, that the program proposes, is a basis for future activities that
will activate the locals and simultaneously offer them new occupations,
and also become a point of interest for visitors both ways benefiting social
and economic growth.
