Description

The purpose of this course is to teach the students how to install, configure
and use Linux on their personal workstation, so that they can use this
system for their daily work.

Audience

This course is designed for students with little or no Linux knowledge or


experience, who want to make a start with Linux.

Prerequisites Be able to use an MS-Windows-based workstation

LINUX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION

Description The purpose of this course is teach experienced Linux users the techniques,
methods and policies used in Linux System Administration.

Audience

The intended audience for this course are experienced Linux users who want
to become the administrator of one or more Linux servers.

Objectives On completion of this course, students should be able to:


o Physically plan and manage the system and its environment
o Install Linux from a network install server

o Select and use system administration tools when appropriate

LINUX TCP/IP ADMINISTRATION


Duration

40 Hours

Description The purpose of this course is to teach TCP/IP network configuration and
administration including the skills necessary to begin implementing and
using PPP, DHCP, electronic mail, static and dynamic routing, DNS, NFS
and NIS.
Audience

Network administrators or other personnel responsible for the configuration,


use, and support of TCP/IP and common network services, such as electronic
mail, DHCP, DNS, NFS, and NIS on Linux.

Objectives On completion of this course, students should be able to:


o Understand the basic concepts of TCP/IP protocols and addressing
o Understand TCP/IP broadcasting and multicasting
o Configure TCP/IP on Linux
o Configure PPP
o Understand DHCP and build a DHCP server on Linux
o Connect multiple TCP/IP networks using static and dynamic routing
o Use networking commands for remote login, remote execution, and file
transfer
o Understand and implement DNS, NFS, and NIS
o Understand and implement electronic mail
o Perform basic troubleshooting of network problems
