Narrative: Endorsement in- campus

Cooperating School: Southern Luzon State University Laboratory High School

Battle Begins
June 2014 first semester everyone from the IV year of College Teacher Education BEED
and BSED program are feeling anxious and nervous, we the future educators will head on to our
battle field. Before we face the real world of teaching we need first to be oriented on what we
should and shouldnt do while we are on our in campus. Together with the chairman of both
programs; Prof. Villaverde and Prof. Zubieto and our supervisors we were informed of the rules
and guidelines that we should follow during our stay in the Laboratory school.
As future educators we are expected to act as one at all times, there are things that we are
suppose to do. We are future teachers and therefore we should act according to our chosen
profession. Some of the guidelines were explained by the Laboratory school principal. Dr. Helen
Daya and school supervisor Prof. Yao; the dos and donts are to be followed by all practice
teachers in the Laboratory school.
We are all determined to do our best in order to be a good future teachers and the in
campus training is a good start to get ourselves familiar with what we will be having as we go to
the battle field of teaching. We know that its our first step in realizing our goals as future
teachers and this is not something that we should taken lightly, we must do this with outmost
seriousness and determination whatever may come along in our practice teaching in campus.

DAILY TEACHING
(Ms. Marjorie O. Dacillo)

Teaching is one of those things that nearly everybody thinks he or she can do better than the
experts. Everybody has taught something to somebody at one time or another, after all. We begin
our amateur teaching careers as children by imposing our superior knowledge on our younger
siblings or playmates. As students, we pass judgement among our peers on this or that teacher's
capabilities. As adults, those of us who do not teach professionally stand ever ready to criticize
those who do.
Because teaching is challenging often with expectations from administrators, supervisors,
parents, politicians, not to mention children, teacher burnout and stress related problems are a
reality for part of the workforce.
During my in-campus daily teaching, I noticed that as I teach, I grow in teaching. Unlike before,
through experiences and comments of my cooperating teachers, I gain my self-confidence. Their
suggestions about some techniques and strategies in teaching really helps me. With my lesson in

music (primary chords), health (unintentional injuries and carrying and transporting victims/
nutritional needs of Filipino adolescence), arts (printing) and physical education (officiating
basketball), I know I did my best. My students really test my temper in dealing with them since
they have their individual attitudes and uniqueness.
"Teaching is not a lost art, but the regard for it is a lost tradition," Jacques Barzun wrote. If this
society knows what is good for it, that regard will be restored. Parents and other concerned
citizens will do all they can to make a teacher's life less troublesome and give due credit to the
profession.

EXAMINATION DAYS

After few months of studying their lessons, students must have also the examination period in
every subject and this will help for the teachers to evaluate if their students learned during their
discussion. The day before the examination the students are oriented with their specific place
where they can take their exams as well as they have also a schedule to follow, and some things
that are needed to do during their examination. Those are some of the reminders for the students,
to have an organize settings, teachers also are have their own duties on the day of the
examination, each of them has their own assigned area, where they are the one who become the
proctor of the students. Student teachers also required helping that day, they have their own
assigned area to be handle because of some of the teachers are busy of some important matters
concerned in their school. Examination period starts early in the morning, after the flag
ceremony of laboratory high school everyone proceeds to their respective classroom to take their
exams. As we observed students are confident to take the test, they are all competitive to get the
higher grades so that they have good records also, and it is good that they have also self
discipline when they are answering the test questions. Everyone are seriously answering the test,
students are informed also on what they had to do if there are finished taking up the first exam.

To be an organize proctor on that day, students teachers are divided into two to three in one
classroom so that, all students teachers experienced how to handle students during examination
period. Then after the other students are finished answering the test, they are all steady in their
place and quietly waiting for those are not yet done answering. In that case we observed that all
of the students know their responsibility and specially the rules during examination. On behalf of
the students teachers we are lucky to have this kind of activity, we learned a lot even in a short
period of time only. We get some tips and techniques even in simple things like distributing a test
questionnaire in an easy way. And we discovered also that in disseminating the test there are also
a proper giving of papers, and it is because the exams are in K-12 pattern. Student teachers must
learned also that the coverage of the exam are the important matters, as well the pattern in
making test question in past years are unlike the K-12 format, there must have the division of
questions for the teachers easily evaluate the questions where the students experienced a difficult
item. All in all everyone enjoyed and thankful for this kind of opportunity gave us.
Narrative Report

Thinking what will be my topic for my final demo makes me undecided at first. For some
reasons that I know it will be the main focus of my final demonstration so I should make it
interesting and at the same time can impart knowledge and understanding among my students. I
also considered the instructional materials to be used, whether it is available and if I can make
used of the things I already used during my previous teaching. And thats it! I came up with the
topic New Media: Arts in Cyberspace.
Through this topic, I can proudly say that I turned to be more resourceful and ceative,
even my panels mentioned it in their comments. I used almost all the instructional materials that
I used during my previous teaching. I prefer three video presentation for motivation, lesson
proper and activity. The video of New Media: Arts in Cyberspace is made by myself that
includes different effects that boost the students interests. During my board work, I let my
students write their ideas on the board which develops class participation. I also prepared
individual and collaborative work for my students to enhance their understanding. I always smile

during my teaching and I encourage my students to ask and recite using my questioning
techniques. I never used to speak tagalog, that results fo me to gain remarkable grades.
My panels are Dr. Helene Daya who gave me 96.5 (outstanding) and told me that she
really loves my teaching; Ms. Alexa de Chavez who gave me 98.5 (oustanding) and told me that
I must be aware in my grammar of using in and are; Mr. El Doulos Chus who gave me 99
(outstanding) and told me that I should practice sense of command or authority to my students;
and Prof. Marife S. Magpantay who gave me 98.5 (oustanding) and council me after my
teaching. My coopearing teacher who is prof. Emelita Cada is there but do not grade me.
Afterwards I gave thanks to the IX-Titans for their active participation. I really enjoyed
my practice teachings and my final demo. Thanks to my parents and to the omnipresent God
above.
