Room Utilization plan

With the elimination of Derby Middle School from Derby High School, the following plan is
proposed for the usage of newly available room space. Derby Middle School had occupied 11
classrooms, a secretarial office, a guidance counselor's office, an in-school suspension room, a
speech pathologist office and a principal's office.

o Former Middle School Principal's Office - To become the SRO office; this allows a
presences in the middle of the classroom area while still affording the SRO a private
room in accordance with our agreement with the Derby Police Department

o Former Middle School Guidance Office - To become the Derby Youth Service satellite
office; this allows our continued collaboration with DYS to become more accessible bv
having John Saccu formal.ly present in our building

o Former Middle School Office - To become the testing center for Student Services
including: Special Education testing, School Psychologist testing and counseling, Speech
and Language testing/services and other related student services as needed

o Fomrer Middle School In-School Suspension Room To become the high school social

worker's office; this allows her former office to once again becorne the departmental
offrce for science

CLASSROOMS:

o Room GOI * formerly middle

school science - Currently, we a.re in discussions with The
Valley YMCA to discuss the possibility of a child care satellite location

o Room 101 - formerly middle school science - The YMCA has expressed interest in
possibly utilizing this classroom as well for a child care location

o Room 102 - formerly middle school music - To be occupied by our ESL program; the
YMCA has expressed interest in possibly utilizing this classroom as well for a child care
location (if so, our ESL program would move to anther location)

o Room 103 - formerly middle school special education - To become a lecture room for
inter-departmental projects such as debates, screening of movies, outside presentations,
etc

o Room 1 11 - To become a high school special education classroom (formerly in Room

124)
o Room ll2 - To become a high school special education classroom (formerly in Room
r26)

o Room 113 - To become a high school Italian Classroom (formerly G08)

r Room ll4 -To become a high school Spanish Classroom (formerly shared classrooms)

o SRO Room - To become the high school "spirit Store;" selling Raider Wear, notebooks,
pens, pencils, and other items that student's need

o Room G08- To become a high school social stirdies (formerly shared

o Room 124 -To become the high school weight room (due to its size and its independent
entrance/exit)

o Room 125, 126, and I27 - To becorne the high school altemative suite
