Kindergarten Kids - Early Learning School

Starting School
Starting school is an important step in a young child's life and 'Is my child
ready for school?' is a question asked by many parents.
Children develop at different rates and learn skills in different ways. It is the
school's task to respond to the needs, learning styles and rates of progress of
individual students. Schools also plan learning experiences based on the skills
students bring to school.

What is the right age?

Children may enter Kindergarten at the beginning of the school year in
Kindergarten Kids Early Learning schools if they turn 2+ on or before 31st April
in that year.

Some gifted or talented children may be ready to start school at an earlier age
while others may benefit from being a little older. By International law, United
Nations, all children must start school by their sixth birthday.

Parents will need to provide proof of their child's age when starting school.
When children start Kindergarten, parents/caregivers are also required to
provide an immunization certificate - a record of the child's immunization
status. Speak to your doctor, local council bodies e.g. D.H.A, Clifton Board etc.
or school about any affiliation with hospital for immunization.

Children with special needs

Special advice and support is available to parents/caregivers of children with

disabilities to help them access appropriate educational services. You can come
and talk to the school as early as possible about these services. We may also
consider Children from Rural Areas and give special Education Assistant and
the Special Education Consultant.

Whom can I talk to?

Parents/caregivers of students starting kindergarten often want further
information and advice about whether their child is ready to start school. There
are a number of education professionals who may be able to offer guidance
about your child's specific needs. Parents/caregivers are encouraged to speak
to their child's pre-school or day care teacher or care, the school principal of
The Kindergarten Kids School, or to the school counselor, school K-2 supervisor
and the Kindergarten teacher at school.

Orientation Day
Most schools have orientation days towards the end of the previous year to
welcome children to Kindergarten. Many schools also have transition to
Kindergarten programs in the second part of the year.

Preparing for Kindergarten

Parents/caregivers can do a lot to help prepare their child for Kindergarten
before the big 'first day'. Below is a list of skills that will be useful for children
starting Kindergarten. We recognize that not all children will have these skills
as everyone develops at a different pace, so this is intended only as a guide so
that starting school may be just a little easier.

The Early learning environment is much different from the traditional

Montessori model. Instead of information passing from the teacher to the
student, the teacher is skilled in putting the child in touch with the
environment, and helping him learn to make intelligent choices and to carry out
research in a prepared environment. The teacher then protects the student's
concentration from interruption. This fosters a love of lifetime learning skills in
the student.

Keep in mind a triangle: the student, the parent or teacher, and the
environment. It is the role of the adult to prepare, and continue to prepare, the
environment, to link the child to it through well-thought-out introductions to
books and materials, projects, and lessons, which nurture the child's
exploration and creativity. Children thus taught often surpass both the level of
education of their peers, and the knowledge of the adult in all areas -- then they
learn to find answers for themselves.

The Early learning school has environment that is being arranged according to
the subject area -- cleaning, gardening, arts & craft, caring & sharing, library
corner, etc. -- children always free to move around the room instead of staying
at desks. There is no limit to how long a child can work on something she has
chosen. At any one time in a day all subjects -- practical work, math, language,
science, history, geography, art, music, etc. -- will be being studied, at all levels,
by children of mixed ages learning from each other, facilitated by careful
observation, individual lessons, record keeping, and help of the teacher.
The Kinder garden School has developed an independent faculty for children of
3 to 7yrs and plus, It has adequate modern facilities with quality playground
equipment. The teaching staff is qualified in developing the latest educational
techniques to ensure a head start for the future of our young scholars.
