Software Upgrade
From WebLCT, the build software can be upgraded without any interruption on the operation.
The upgrade procedure uploads the software build on the standby bank; the system
keeps running the pre-existing software on the active bank.
To make active the new build software, it is necessary to execute the switching of the
banks. The switching operation runs the new version of the software.
To upgrade the build software, follow the steps.

License Upgrade
The license is stored into the Memory Hardware.
When a change of the functionalities (subject to license) is required, the NE checks if
the fees and the credits allow the new setting.
Select the menu Equipment > Operation, Administration and Maintenance > tabpanel License.

Pressing the Enter push-button in the License area, the License Key Modify window
opens, where it is possible to insert in SMS format a new license for expanding the
software functions. There are four text fields for the four blocks of the license.

To generate a new license the CLicS application must be used.

With this application the new values to be inserted in the four License Key fields are
calculated.

Networking parameter change in the Single cable configurations

This paragraph gives the sequence of steps to be adopted in order to make effective the
Networking Parameters in the Co-located ODU in "single cable" protected system types
(1+1 HSBY 1c and 2+0 XPIC 1c). This workaround is needed because, following a
change in the Networking parameters of the Co_localed ODU (IP_address, IP_mask,
IP_gateway and M_VID) configured in the Direct_Connected ODU (and sent to the
Co_located via LLDP Protocol), these new parameters are not effective. The new
parameters can be made available in different ways:

HW Reset of the Direct_connected ODU,

Disabling/Enabling of ACCM Timer and Disabling/Enabling MAC Learning in Direct
Connected ODU
Topology change (disconnect and reconnect the ODU-ODU cable or connect/disconnect the GbE cable of Co-located ODU)

Figure 42

Single cable topology

The above triggers must be done after the modifications of the Network parameters.
Three cases are taken into account:

58

New Installation - In this case, for simplicity, it is suggested to perform an HW Reset

on the Direct Connected ODU as workaround for the described problem.

Swap&Repair - In this case, since it is possible that live traffic is running in the Direct
Connected ODU, is strongly suggested not to issue the HW Reset on this ODU, but
apply on the same ODU the procedure described here below.

Networking parameters change - Also in this case it is suggested to apply the procedure described below (a part the cases, where no live traffic is running in the
Direct Connected ODU).
