DEUTZ EMR3 FAULT CODE 142 EEPROM error

EEPROM stands for Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory. This memory type
is semi-permanent meaning that it can store information without the ECU being powered but it can
be erased and reprogrammed when a specific signal is received. This memory is used for storage of
operating hours and logistic data between shutdowns.
EEPROM significa elctricamente programable y borrable memoria de slo lectura. Este tipo de memoria es significado semipermanente que puede almacenar informacin sin la ECU recibe alimentacin pero se puede borrar y reprogramar cuando se recibe
una seal especfica. Esta memoria se utiliza para el almacenamiento de las horas de funcionamiento y datos logsticos entre
paradas.

When the engine is shutdown, the ECU remains active for approx. 10-20 seconds. During this
time, the logistic data is written to EEPROM so it is available the next time the ECU is booted. If
this process is interrupted, the logistic data will not be accurate and a fault code 142 will likely
occur.

The most common causes of this fault are

1. Main battery disconnect (E-stop) prior to completion of the EEPROM processes.
2. Incorrect wiring resulting in a loss of power to the ECU prior to completion of the
EEPROM processes.
3. Recent programming of the ECU.

The 142 fault code cannot be erased using normal means. This error must be reset by erasing the
EEPROM. A side effect of this erasure is the loss of engine operating hours stored in the
ECU. As a result, the following steps should be taken any time you are addressing this error.
1. Save a copy of the dataset using Overall Programming in Serdia.
2. Save a copy or error memory 1 and 2.
3. Record the current number of engine operating hours.
4. Use Serdia Tasks to reset the EEPROM.
5. Use Overall Programming to install the dataset saved earlier and enter the operating hours.
El cdigo 142 de fallo no se puede borrar utilizando los medios normales. Este error se debe restablecer mediante el borrado de la
EEPROM. Un efecto secundario de esta supresin es la prdida de horas de funcionamiento del motor almacenados en la ECU.
Como resultado de ello, los siguientes pasos deben tomarse en cualquier momento que se est dirigiendo este error.
1. Guarde una copia de la base de datos usando "Programacin general" en Serdia.
