A biome is a large area with a particular range of plants and animals that are
adapted to survive in the climatic and geographic ecosystems within a biome.

1. Match the biomes with their characteristics.

Deserts

They are the most populated of all biomes.

They have a warm and cold season with
medium rainfall all year. The soil is fertile.

Grasslands

They have heavy rainfall throughout the

year and 70% of the plants are trees.

Tundra

They have a hot dry season and a warm wet

season. There is more tall grass than trees.

Deciduous Forest

Temperatures are extreme and there is very

little rainfall. They are the driest of all biomes.

Coniferous Forest

Winters are long and cold and summers are

short. There is little rainfall. It is difficult for
plants to grow.

Rainforests
They have a cool climate with medium rainfall.
The plant life is mainly evergreen trees.

2. Answer the questions.

Which biomes receive the most rainfall?

Which biomes receive the least rainfall?
