CIV16 EXCLUSIVE VISIT TO ROME: CITY VISIT AND FREE TIME IN THE FASHION
DISTRICT !
!
!
!
!
Duration: approx. 7.5 hours, lunch not included.
While Rome was certainly not built in a day, this easy-going tour lets you check out the eternal citys
most iconic locations in just under 8 hours! After about a 90-minute drive to meet your guide, you will
first make your way up Aventine Hill for a peek at the Basilica of St. Peter through the so-called
keyhole in the grounds of the impressive Villa del Priorato di Malta. Your route around Rome will also
include views of the Pyramid of Cestius, Caracalla Baths, Circus Maximus, Colosseum, the Bocca della
Verit (the Mouth of Truth) fountain as well as the Roman theatre and the splendid Piazza and Palazzo
Barberini. Your jaunt through living history will be followed by a pleasure of a decidedly more modern
and urbane kind: shopping in the citys cult fashion district all around Piazza del Popolo right down to
Via Condotti, Via Borgognona, Via Frattina and Piazza di Spagna. Splurge, if you feel the urge, on the
high-end jewellery and couture fashions presented in the glossy retail outlets of Italian and
international designers or simply gather inspiration during a bit of window shopping ahead of your
90-minute drive back to the ship, during which you can relax and relive the memories of your fabulous
time in Rome.
Wheelchair guests must be accompanied by their own helper to get on/off the coach. Wheelchairs must be
foldable as the coach is not provided with ramps or lifts. Once onboard, please contact Excursions Desk staff
promptly so they can help make arrangements.

a short walk to another famous site: the Roman Forum for a jump back into the past. Your walking
tour continues passing by Piazza St. Apostoli until reaching Piazza di Spagna. With its characteristic
butterfly plan, this is one of the most famous images of Rome in the world, as well as being one of the
most majestic urban monuments of Roman Baroque style. You will have some time for shopping and
having lunch on your own before you continue to the Pantheon and around the elegant Piazza Navona.
On taking leave of your Roman guide, you will return to the port.
Please note: in Rome the whole excursion includes long walking so its not suitable for guests with walking
difficulties or using a wheelchair. Comfortable shoes are recommended. This tour does not include an inside visit
to the Coliseum.

BCN05
- PANORAMIC CITY TOUR & NOU CAMP STADIUM !
!
Duration: 3.5 hours
Thanks to the sheer scale of its impressive architecture, Barcelonas Camp Nou Stadium one of the
worlds most famous football temples and the largest stadium in all of Europe with a capacity to seat
nearly 100,000 people is a fascinating destination, whether you are a soccer fan or not. Apart from
hosting numerous key UEFA matches throughout the years, the stadium has also been used to stage
other events, including concerts given by such major pop artists as Sting, Bruce Springsteen, Peter
Gabriel, Tracy Chapman or U2. In 1982, Pope John Paul II even celebrated mass at the stadium, on
which occasion he was made an honorary citizen of Barcelona. Your tour begins with a drive-by
sightseeing tour past Gaudis Sagrada Famlia, a minor basilica, and up Montjuich Hill before arriving
at Camp Nou Stadium.
Please note: the feasibility of the tour is subject to the schedule of the football club and then the stadium could be
closed with very short notice; for this reason the tour could be cancelled even the day before our call for reasons
beyond MSCs control. The visit to the stadium includes walking upstairs and downstairs and is not suitable for
guests with walking difficulties or using a wheelchair. This tour is not available on calls falling on a Sunday
afternoon.

Situated approx. 1 hour by coach from the port of Barcelona lies Montserrat, a mountain-top
Benedictine Monastery that forms the highest point of the Catalonian lowlands. Santa Maria de
Montserrat, to give the monastery its official name, is a key Catholic pilgrimage site and a favourite
destination for religious retreats. Apart from being home to a statue of the Virgin of Montserrat also
known as the Black Madonna or La Moreneta the monastery boasts a basilica with a resplendent
interior that stands in stark contrast to its somewhat austere exterior. Interestingly, the monastery also
hosts a publishing house that counts as one of the worlds oldest still functioning presses, with the first
book having been printed in 1499. You will have time to look around by yourself before returning to
Barcelona.
Please note: the guide will give explanation only outside the Monastery; guests will visit the site individually.
Conservative attire is recommended for visiting the religious site. Shooting videos or taking photos during the
visit to the Monastery is prohibited. Wheelchair guests must be accompanied by their own helper to get on/off
the coach. Wheelchairs must be foldable as the coach is not provided with ramps or lifts. Once onboard, please

village of Sant Sadurni and the Cavas Vilarnau wine cellars. Apart from a chance to see how wine,

palate during the tasting session that concludes your visit. The relaxing return drive to your ship
brings your Catalonian outing to a close.

Having been founded in about 1200, the small Baltic town of Warnemnde near Rostock at the estuary of the

has remained ever since.

of guides in languages other than German. Should a tour guide for your language be unavailable, the tour will

your coach for the journey back to the ship.

Esperandiu between 1853 and 1864. The site was formerly a XIII century chapel dedicated to Our Lady
of the Guard and features several votive offerings from safely returned sailors. Stop for an inside visit
before continuing on a 1.5-hour coach ride to the medieval city of Avignon. Here we will visit the
Palace of the Popes, an ancient fortress rich in galleries and chapels. The frescoes and hand-painted
tapestries in the Popes bedrooms and private rooms bear witness to the former opulence of this

the typical French brasserie-restaurants. Return to Marseilles for embarkation.
