What Is Radishield?
Radishield is a patented flexible elastomeric
lead filled system developed to protect
workers in nuclear and associated industries
from harmful x-ray and gamma radiation.
It can be used to shield areas where
traditional shielding materials such as lead
cannot be used or is difficult to install.
Designed to replace products such as PVC
covered lead impregnated rubber / pure lead
which have definite disadvantages.

Types & Forms of Radishield

Radishield comes in 3 main types:
Silicone Radishield
Polyurethane Radishield (Radishield 50 flat sheets)
Lead Free Radishield

Silicone RADISHIELD

Original Radishield (yellow)

Material will not sag or slump like

alternative products (pvc bags)

High temperature resistance

(-50 to 200 C - 250C intermittent)

Easily decontaminated

Flame Retardant

Water/steam proof

Available in flat sheet form standard or non-standard sizes /

thicknesses

Very flexible

Available in pipewrap, t-piece and

bespoke moulded shapes
(laminated or un-laminated)

Low chlorine,fluorine,sulphur
content (suitable for contact with
stainless steel)

Can be incorporated into

customised containment units

Easily cut and shaped by hand

Polyurethane RADISHIELD

Developed as a lower cost alternative to silicone Radishield where ultimate

properties not required.

Same shielding (attenuation) as silicone Radishield.

Lower max temperature ( 50C).

Low chlorine, fluorine, sulphur content not applicable.

Slightly less flexible.

Significantly lower cost.

Available in FLAT SHEET FORM ONLY (std colour - green).

Available in standard or special sizes / thicknesses.

Lead Free RADISHIELD (New)

Developed as a alternative to standard Radishield products where

customers require a LEAD FREE alternative.

Tungsten based inner laminate.

Available in Silicone or Polyurethane versions

Same shielding and flexibility as standard Radishield.

Available to order in standard or special sizes / shapes

Tested by National Radiological Protection Board

N.D.T (Non-destructive Testing)

The examination of metalwork integrity by means of
radiography.
Can be x-ray or gamma ray.
Numerous companies sub-contracting to larger companies ( e.g.
pipeline, offshore etc)..Very competitive.
Radishield required to reduce safe working distance, thus
reducing costs and downtime.
Often Radishield 50 (low temperature, low cost).
Specially developed shrouds and guide tube shields (patented).
Usually smaller quantities required.
