Military use of Technology
Technology has been upgraded far faster than scientists could ever predict and as
technology changes so does the reaction it has on society. A major group that technology has
affected is the military. Over the years the United States government has invested hundreds of
dollars into the military in order to enhance their skills and weapons. The military has the
necessity to keep upgraded in the world of technology in order for them to have the ability and
the necessary equipment needed to defend the country during a national emergency.
One example of a new and surprising electronic being created for the military is the
Smart Bullet this is a bullet that is being created for the United States Military where not only is
it a new form of a weapon but can be controlled by the soldier who fired it in order to guarantee
a hit on their desired target. This project is a combination of two different electronics and
combining them in order to allow the military to improve combat skills and providing a new
weapon. Articles have introduced it as an in-flight guidance, (Fox News, 2), this new high-tech
weapon I also considered to be the most controversial debate that is occurring at the moment
among society. While some may be anti-war the realistic way of thinking is though war is not
desired it is realistic to predict that it may occur in the future as a result the military will continue
to advance their military equipment.

Military has also taken a huge step towards improving their small flying aircrafts, also
known as drones. As small drones have become more popular in society, the military is already
two steps ahead and have built a life size, remote controlled drone called MQ-8C. This drone has
only been upgraded over the years but has also been used for several missions, as explained by
Elizabeth Palermo on the website of Live Science, The MQ-8B was first deployed by the U.S.
Navy in 2009 and has since been used for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance
missions (Palermo, 3). This new drone opened all sorts of options when it came to the
advancement of military missions. This allows drones to be used as enforcers because instead of
putting the lives of military officers in danger in order to complete these missions, we have the
option of using robotic drones.
Among the different technology that the U.S. military is working on the most recent one
is referred to as the Chef Bot. The Chef Bot is a robot that was created to interpret videos that
were related to cooking and then has the ability to cook it exactly the same way as in the video.
In an article by Live Science writer Tanya Lewis the Chef Bot is described as, Using its brainy
programming, the robot is capable of recognizing how kitchen utensils are used in the videos,
and can accurately replicate those actions without human intervention, according to the study,
which was funded by the Defense Research Projects Agency (DARPA).(Lewis, 2). This robot
introduced a whole different type of technology for the military, a new form of technology that
involves an improvement in the meals that the soldiers receive. This technology does no harm to
others and it incites a positive step towards keeping you military better equipped in other areas
other than combat.
In conclusion the research of this topic has identified that the advancements in
technology for military purposes is a strategic plan that is meant to subsidize our soldiers with

the necessary equipment needed in case of national emergency. In order to complete this plan the
government invests a large amount of funding in order to enhance their skills in order to help
them during combat. Some of this new technology consists of the Smart Bullet, a bullet that
guarantees a shot on the desired target. The second invention that is being devised is the MQ-8B,
an upgraded version of a helicopter drone that can be used to complete military missions without
risking the lives of soldiers. The third contraption is a non-combat item it is a robotic machine
that interprets cooking videos from YouTube and can replicate it exactly as in the video. All of
these items demonstrate that the military is not only upgrading for national security but also to
improve the living accommodations of our soldiers.
