GO GEORGE

First Bus Routes Starting

On 8 December 2014, the first four trial phase GO GEORGE routes will start operating,
heralding a new era of scheduled, safe and affordable public transport for residents and
visitors.
The GO GEORGE bus system will have 24 routes serving the entire George municipal area,
with links to neighbouring towns. The complete system will be rolled out in a phased way
over the coming months.
The four trial phase routes include two routes linking the George town centre and
Rosemoor with the Garden Route Mall, and routes from Denneoord and Loerie Park linking
with the CBD and the main transfer hub in Cradock Street.

Please note that with effect from the start of the GO GEORGE service there will be no
other public transport services, including minibus taxis, operating on these routes.

Tickets and fares

The fare is based on the distance you travel. The first four routes are all within the 0-15km
distance zone, so the fare is R8.50.
You can only buy tickets from the driver when you enter the bus. Please have exact change to
minimise delays. Your ticket will be stamped with a date and time.
If you need to change buses to reach your destination, you can use your ticket to transfer free
to any of the other GO GEORGE routes, as long as you board your next bus
within one hour of the time stamped on your ticket. For example,
at the corner of Courtenay and Wellington streets, you can
transfer to Route C56, which serves the Denneoord area.
