How Intertek Delivers ASTA Service in
Asia Pacific?

Approved ASTA Laboratories

If your preferred laboratory is not part of the below
list, please contact us and our experts will consider
witnessing your equipment at the location of your
choice.

ASTA certificates and endorsed reports are only

available through testing at 'recognized' laboratories

that have been rigorously assessed by Intertek

ASTA Certification Body. These recognized
laboratories may carry out tests to support the
issue of ASTA Certificates and Test Reports in
accordance with ASTA's rules and regulations.
Intertek ASTA Observers witness the type tests
on behalf of Intertek ASTA and the ASTA Observers
draft the ASTA reports and certificates which are
then sent to the ASTA Certification Body for
verification and issue.

What are the Benefits of ASTA?

What is ASTA?
The manufacturers of power systems, electrical
transmission and distribution equipment and
switchgear systems face the same challenges as
any other manufacturer - the need to reduce
costs in the production process, to comply with
legislation that governs their product, to speed
time to market to increase selling days and to
gain competitive advantage over their rivals in
the marketplace.
Fortunately, ASTA is a perfect solution to support
you to beat these challenges.

ASTA Introduction
ASTA Verification Test Certification is a well
established certification system used in the
Electrical Transmission, Installation and Distribution
industry. Having been in place for decades, it has
wide recognition and acceptance by regulatory
authorities around the globe. ASTA Verification
Test Certificates provide authoritative objective
evidence that your bespoke equipment is compliant
to relevant safety standards.

The Short-Circuit Testing Liaison (STL) provides a

forum for voluntary international collaboration
between testing organizations. The basic aim is
the harmonised application of IEC and Regional
Standards for the type testing of electrical power
equipment.
STL is concerned with high voltage electrical
transmission and distribution power equipment
(i.e. above 1000V a.c. and 1200V d.c.) for which
the type tests specified in Standards include
short-circuit and dielectric verification tests.

Recognition

Intertek ASTA Observers should had been trained

and appointed by Intertek ASTA Certification
Body, whose principal role is to ensure that the tests
are performed in accordance with the requirements
of the standard, ASTA's requirements and any
relevant Guides and Test Instructions. Finally they
also take responsibility for accepting that the test
results meet the requirements of the standard
and for drafting the resulting certificates and
test reports. Currently, we have 2 Intertek ASTA
Observers, and will have 4 observers till 2014.
