RESEARCH PROGRAMME*
(IBF Level 1 & 2)
INCORPORATES THE PREPARATORY COURSE FOR THE CFA LEVEL 1 & 2 EXAMINATION

The CFA Singapore Research Programme (IBF Level 1 & 2)


helps prepare young professionals and graduates for entry
level research analysts positions.
It is ideal for graduates seeking employment and a career in
investment research or a related field as they work towards a
goal of attaining the CFA and b e c o m i n g a n IBF-certified
practitioner.
ABOUT CFA & IBF Standards
The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program is a globally recognized, graduate level curriculum that provides
a strong foundation of real-world investment analysis and portfolio management skills along with the practical
knowledge you need in todays investment industry. It also emphasizes the highest ethical and professional
standards.
The IBF Standards (previously the Financial Industry Competency Standards or FICS) represent a set of
competency standards developed by the industry, for the industry. It provides a practice-oriented development
roadmap for financial sector practitioners to attain the necessary training to excel in their respective job roles. The
Research job role refers to the conduct of fundamental analysis on companies globally, providing institutional and
retail clients with industry-specific and in-depth research and analysis on diversified industries.
ABOUT IBF Certified Practitioner
An IBF-certified practitioner is one who epitomizes the values of professional excellence, integrity and a strong

MINIMUM ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor Degree or the equivalent. Applicants are required to submit their University transcripts.

COURSE DELIVERY
Module A which spans over 19 sessions helps participants to prepare for the Level 1 CFA examination. Each session is 3.5
hours and seminar groups are kept at an optimal size to encourage active engagement and interaction between instructors
and participants through short discussions and practice questions on key concepts.
Module B will be conducted over 4 workshop sessions to hone the participants practical analysis financial information and
statements.
Module C will be covered over 5 seminar sessions and it aims to equip participants with further product knowledge on
technical analysis, foreign exchange, commodities and collective investment schemes. Participants also get an insight to the
overview of the financial system.

COURSE DELIVERY
Module A prepares participants for the Level 2 CFA examinations. It spans over 19 sessions and each session is 3.5 hours.
Each session is delivered in a seminar format and every group is kept at an optimal size to encourage active engagement and
interaction between instructors and participants through short discussions and practice questions on key concepts.
Module B will be conducted over 8 workshop sessions to hone the participants practical analysis financial information and
statements.
Module C will be covered over 5 seminar sessions and it aims to equip participants with further product knowledge on
technical analysis, foreign exchange, commodities and collective investment schemes. Participants also get an insight to
the overview of the financial system.

IBF Standards Training Scheme (IBF-STS)


IBF-STS will provide 70% funding, capped at S$7,000 per participant per programme under the IBF Standards
framework (subject to approval). Funding will only be reimbursed to participants who have successfully
completed the programme. (Subject to the grant eligibility under the IBF-STS) Further information on funding

Who Is Eligible?
Individual Track
Non-company sponsored individuals who are Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents and
physically based in Singapore.
Company-Sponsored Track
Singapore-based financial sector entities(1) sponsoring staff for qualifying training programmes:
- Financial Institutions; and
- Other entities regulated by The Monetary Authority of Singapore (either licensed or exempted from licensing)
To be eligible for IBF-TS funding, sponsored staff should be:
(i) A Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident;
(ii) Of executive level(2) and involved in or supporting financial sector activities;
(iii) Physically based in Singapore.

(1) Entities who are significantly involved in supporting financial sector activities will be assessed for eligibility on a case-by-case basis.
(2) Sponsored staff may be either permanent or contract ( 1 year) staff, and engaged either on a full or part-time basis.

General:
1.

Participants are required to submit feedback for every sessions.

2.

Participants are required to meet a minimum attendance of 75%.

3.

Fees excludes CFA Institute examination and registration fees.

4.

The minimum class size policy for the programme requires a minimum of ten (10) confirmed registrations and it will be at the sole
discretion of CFA Singapore whether to start a class without the minimum required class size.

5.

Any deferment /extension of the program is at the sole discretion of CFA Singapore and only 1 deferment is allowed.

6.

Total course fee is payable upon registration. Instalment plans with DBS credit cards are available.

7.

CFA Singapore may impose additional requirements or make changes to existing requirements, without prior notice.

8.

Participants are required to declare any receipts of any previous or other grants or subsidies, provided either by FSDF and/or other
government agencies, for the claims. Failure to do so will result in rejection of claims during submission.

Payment and Refund Policy:


Any notice of withdrawal must be given in writing via mail/email:
1.

Full refund, less 10% bank admin and admin charges, if notice is given at least 2 weeks before commencement.

2.

50% refund of programme fee if notice is given between 1-2 weeks before commencement.

3.

No refund if notice is given less than 1 week before commencement, or after commencement of programme.

4.

Study materials if issued, are refundable only when the packaging remains intact and before commencement of programme.

5.

Should I choose Payment Option 2, I am liable to pay the balance amount (2nd payment) of the Research Programme on 23rd Mar
2015 onwards. In the event that I fail to complete the training and/or fulfil the IBF-STS funding criteria as stipulated in the Research
Programme, I understand that CFA Singapore has the right to recover the full course fees of the Research Programme. In the
event that I withdraw from the Research Programme before its completion, I am liable to pay the balance amount (2nd Payment) of
the Research Programme immediately upon withdrawal. I also agree to an administration fee of $50.

6.

By selecting the Credit Card Payment Option, I authorize CFA Singapore to charge my credit card account for the balance amount
(2nd Payment) when it is due. CFA Singapore is not required to seek further authorization from me at that point in time.
