he heard a merchant shouted, A reward! A reward to
the one who find my leather purse!
Being an honest man, the beggar came forward
and handed the purse to the merchant saying, Here is
your purse. Will you keep your word to give a reward
now? Reward? scoffed the merchant greedily
counting the amount of gold. The purse I dropped
had 200 pieces of gold in it. Youve already stolen
more than the reward Ill give to you! Go away or Ill
tell you to the police.
Im an honest man, said the beggar defiantly.
Lets take this matter to the court! In the court, the
judge patiently listened to both sides of the story and
said, I believe you both. Justice is possible!
Merchant, you stated that the purse you lost contained
200 pieces of gold. Well, thats a considerable cost.
But the purse the beggar found had only 100 pieces of
gold. Therefore, it couldnt be the one you lost. And,
with that, the judge gave the purse and all the gold to
the beggar.

During the holiday break, I went to Parangtritis beach, an

unspoiled beach south of Yogyakarta. I went there with my family
for two days, just after New Years. The drive took about an hour,
and it was very interesting because most of it was countryside.
When we arrived at our holiday house, the first thing we
all did were to get changed into our costumes and go for a swim
down at the beach. The beach was only across the holiday
house. The sun was very bright, and the water was freezing cold,
but it was very refreshing. We swam for a little while, and then we
returned home to get some food. That night, after dinner, we all
sat around and played scrabble, until very late.
The next morning, my mother and I walked down to the
souvenir stalls, where we shopped for about two hours. When we
got home, my father had packed some tasty food, ready for the
whole family to go to the beach for the afternoon. I had fried
chicken and vegetables. It was extremely delicious. After eating,
we played beach volleyball and we had lots of fun.
I will always remember this holiday because it was the
first time in years that the whole family was able to have holiday
together, and the weather was fantastic the whole time! We took
plenty of pictures and when I got home, the very first thing I did
was to have them developed. They are treasured memories of a
great holiday experience.
