Notes:
1.Safe working load (SWL) given in metric tonnes. One (1) ton is equivalent to 1000 kg.
2.Where actual trolley hoists are not available for testing, load test of trolley beams may be done by mounting trolley hoist
of similar capacity.
3. TH denotes trolley hoist and H denotes hoist.
5.2
Mount trolley hoists on to respective trolley beams. Lubricate all lubrication points on trolley hoist adequately.
5.3
5.4
Run each trolley hoist along trolley beam without load. Verify smooth and unrestricted movement along trolley beam.
Verify that safe working load of trolley hoists are marked clearly on trolley hoist and trolley beam at minimum two (2)
prominent locations.
5.5
For option using certified test weights.
5.5.1 Raise test weights clear off the ground and secure test weights to hook.

5.5.2 Suspend test weights for 10 minutes. Verify that no signs of inadequacies are detected during hoisting and load holding. Indicate
test results S for satisfactory and UN for unsatisfactory in Table (5.3).
5.5.3 Lower test weights and remove from trolley hoist.
5.6
For option Using Tension meter (when testing with certified weights is not possible
5.6.1 When site conditions do not allow for testing with certified test weights, secure one end of tension meter to hook. Anchor the
other end of tension meter to strong point on deck level (provide temporary pad eyes where necessary).
5.6.2 Start applying pulling load in accordance with the test load (see Table 5.3). Beam shall be tested at one-and-half (1.5) times of
their safe working load under static conditions.
5.7
5.8
Tag each trolley beam with identification tag number according to Table (5.2) after satisfactory completion of test. SWL
marking to be done as per Hull issued drawing.
5.9
Repeat for each trolley beam Repeat steps (5.5) to (5.8) for a maximum of three lifting points along a particular trolley beam (2
extreme points & one at mid span).

Verify location and safe working load of maintenance pad eyes according to reference drawings.
Check clear marking of SWL (Y/N Yes/No) on pad eyes. Record data in Table (6.1).
6.2
Determine test load based on one-and-half (1.5) times of pad eye safe working load.
6.3
Attach chain block to pad eye via shackles. Safe working load of shackle and chain hoist shall be 1.5 times the safe working
load of pad eye.
6.4 For option using certified test weights:6.4.1 Raise test weights clear off the ground and secure test weights to hook
6.4.2 Suspend test weights for 10 minutes. Verify that no signs of inadequacies are detected during hoisting and load holding.
Indicate test results S for satisfactory and UN for unsatisfactory in Table (6.1).
6.4.3 Lower test weights and remove from trolley hoist.
6.5 For option using tension meter (when testing with certified weights is not possible):6.5.1 When site conditions do not allow for testing with certified test weights, secure one end of tension meter to hook. Anchor the
other end of tension meter to strong point on deck level (provide temporary pad eyes where necessary).
6.5.2 Start applying pulling load in accordance with the test load (see Table 6.1). Pad eyes shall be tested at one-and-half (1.5) times
of their safe working load under static conditions.
6.6
Repeat for each maintenance pad eye. Record data in Table (6.1).
6.7 Tag each pad eye with identification tag number according to Table (6.1) after satisfactory completion of test. SWL marking to
be done as per Hull issued drawing.
6.8 List all pad eyes with unique identification tag numbers in Table (6.1). Number pad eyes as follows:
eg. PE-101-01
- PE -: Pad Eye
- 101 -: Compartment designated No.
- 01 -: Pad eye running number, 01, 02 etc
- TH -: Trolley Hoist
- TB -: Trolley Beam
100% MPI/ DPT weld connections of all the pad eyes and other lifting gears as indicated in Table 6.1 shall be performed
after load test. MPI/ DPT test results to be enclosed in the final compilation of Test Memo report.
