3. TRANSPORT PROBLEM
As cited by Ponraahono (2014), according to Suwardo, Napiah and Kamaruddin (2008), large
number of trips produced can increase the traffic along with the low growth of road length and
the inadequacy of public transport. Alternative of using public transport is expected to reduce
the traffic volume and main solution that should be focused. According to Gibb (2013),
Singapore comes out with a solution for traffic congestion that was very effective eventhough
they has one of the highest densities road. He stated the solution Singapore used are Certificate
of Entitlement (COE) where it use the quota system, additional registration fees that new car
owner need to pay and Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) where drivers are charged a high cost at
certain area in peak hours.
4. POLLUTION
Water and air pollution which is one of the pollution that occurs in urban area can be resolved in
many ways. As stated in the environment.nationlgeographic, air pollution can be reduced by
upgrading energy use and alternative transport system. Ladan (2013) stated that, manufacturing
industries in urban center should compel to follow strictly to various control legislation on
pollution. While westwyay (n.d) in his articles, state a six things that all city should administer
which are reduce traffic by walking and cycling, eliminate polluting vehicle with limited access
zone, establish construction industry that respect air quality, stop building road, retrofit plluting
vehicle and green the city.
