Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Ministry of Youth affairs and Sree Sowdambika college of
Engineering, Aruppukottai jointly organize National Integration Camp (NIC) from
February 12 -16, 2015.
Nehru Yuva Kendras (NYK) were established in the year 1972 with the objective of
providing rural youth to take part in the process of nation building as well providing
opportunities for the development of their personality and skills.
Sree Sowdambika College of Engineering established in 2000-2001 is an educational
Institution promoted by the philanthropic Chockalingapuram Devangar Varthagar Sangam,
founded in 1919 by our prophetic forefathers.
The basic aim of this camp is to inculcate the spirit of unity, nationalism, brotherhood,
feeling of proud to be an Indian Citizen, Scientific values amongst the youth as well as to
promote sadbhavna and peace in the country.
We feel highly elated and pleased to conduct such a kind of programme in our college
with the support and backing of the well-wishers of the society. This missionary and visionary
campaign will get enlightened and emulated only with your hearty rendering of service for 200
youths

Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK)

Nehru Yuva Kendra Scheme was started in 1972 by the then Ministry of
Education with the objective of providing the non - student rural youth an
opportunity to help him grow and involve in the nation-building-activities. In 1987,
all the existing kendras under the NYK scheme were re-organized into an
autonomous body that was formed by a resolution of Department of Youth Affairs.
As a result of this endeavor, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangam (NYK) was formed.
Objectives of NIC:
1. To create quality opportunity for young participants from different parts of the country to
live, interact and learn together in an environment of mutual love and respect and also
understand and appreciate people living in different parts of the country.
2. To facilitate the participants to learn about the issue of National integration and
communal harmony
3. To inculcate the spirit of unity, nationalism, brotherhood, feeling of proud to be Indian
Citizen.
4. To facilitate the youth to know about the age-old common history and heritage, this has
been instrumental for strengthening our secular and democratic fibre.
5. To facilitate the youth to identify the threats and challenges posed by divisive forces in
the country and develop a strategy to combat the same.
6. To create an opportunity for the youth to participate and see various traditional folk and
traditional cultural performances.
7. To educate the youth about the core developmental issues like skill development,
employment / self-employment, education, health including HIV / AIDS and
environment.
8. To facilitate the youth understand the developmental scenario and challenges and also to
motivate them for contributing towards national development.
9. To make them understand about their roles as a citizen.
10. Inspire them to offer services to the nation during national emergencies such as
communal riots, terrorist attacks and disasters.
