DESCRIPTION
The water produced by the fresh water generator could not be drunk directly. The Sewon REHARDENING FILTER is designed for increasing the hardness and pH value of
the fresh water produced by the fresh water generator. The rehardening filter is coated
internally with a special epoxy coating and filter is provided with a cap(item no.2) for
refilling , vent valve, safety valve, pressure gauge, and necessary valve and pipe for
correct operation.

INSTRUCTION
1. CHARGING WITH FILTER MASS
A) Remove the cap and charge the filter with the amount of granulated dolomite size
2 - 7 mm stated in the technical data sheet.
S) Fill up to about 5cm below the inlet pipe connection on the top of filter. This is for
i

one charge quantity as in the drawing's technical data.

2. STARTING UP
A) Open the vent cock on the cover and fill up the rehardening filter with water from
the upper connection as the water flow has to fill from top to bottom.
S) Open drain(sample cock) valve such that the filter is still full of water in order to
rinse the filter mass, leaving the valve open for an hour or as long as it takes for
the water to be clear.
C) Close the drain(sample cock) valve and open the outlet valve, where after the filter
is ready for service.
3. SERVICE
A) When recharging the filter mass make sure that the strainer in the bottom outlet is
not damage.
S) Once a week the filter should be back flushed, or at any time when the pressure
drop is excessive.
C) The pH adjusting substance (dolomite) is consumed proportionally to the alkalinity
of the water and the dolomite charge shall be replenished at least once a year in
normal operation.
D) For back-washing the operational device(3-way valve) should be directed upwards. The washing should last for ten minutes or until the wash-out water is clear.

5. SHUT OFF
When the rehardening filter is isolated, for example when refilling or adjusting
substance, the position of the operating devices must be at by pass.

6. STORAGE FOR LONG TERM

The following recommendations are included to avoid the most common errors that
occur during storage.
DO
INSPECT FOR DAMAGE DURING STORAGE, i.e, DENTS, BROKEN
HARDWARE, etc.
STORE IN CLEAN DRY AREA WHERE IT WILL NOT BE EXPOSED TO HEAW
TRAFFIC OR DAMAGING ENVIRONMENT.
USE ONLY DESIGNATED LIFTING LUGS.
REMOVE ANY FOREIGN MATERIAL.
REMOVE ALL SHIPPING DEVICES AFTER COMPLETE INSTALLATION AND

.
'

BEFORE ANY PRESSURE TEST OF THE FULL INSTALLED SYSTEM .

DON'T
DO NOT DROP OR STRIKE CARTON.
DO NOT REMOVE PROTECTING COVER UNTIL INSTALLATION IS COMPLETE.
DO NOT WELD.
DO NOT USE CHAINS OR ANY LIFTING DEVICE DIRECTLY ON THE
REHARDENING FILTER
DO NOT USE CLEANING AGENTS THAT CONTAIN CHLORIDES.
DO NOT USE STEEL WOOL OR WIRE BRUSHES ON BODY.
DO NOT EXCEED A PRESSURE TEST OF 1.5 TIMES THE RATED WORKING
PRESSURE OF THE REHARDENING FILTER.

OVERHAUL / REASSEMBLING
Caution
Overhaul & reassembling work must be carried out using approved procedures
and workers should as a minimum be wearing suitable personal protection
equipment including safety glasses, hard hat, a respirator and gloves.
