Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat

is recognized by UGC under section 2(7). It also has been accorded recognition
as SIRO by DSIR. PDPU is a world-class institution, modelled on the IITs & IIMs
and creates a vibrant brigade of knowledge leaders in the energy, engineering
and technology sector. The University offers programs to address the need for
trained human resources in the domains of Science, Technology, Management

core subject knowledge which are duly complemented by leadership training
interventions, thereby helping the students to make a mark in the global arena.
PDPU has also extended its services to the students from PDPU and other
institutes along with the professionals from industries by offering skill
development courses in the domain of Automotive thro ugh Siemens Centre of
Excellence. The Siemens Centre of Excellence is established under an
agreement between Industries Commissionerate -Government of Gujarat,
Siemens Industry Software (INDIA) Pvt. Ltd., Designtech Systems Ltd., India &
Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University.
ABOUT SIEMENS CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE

ORGANIZED BY

The Siemens-Centre of Excellence has been established at PDPU to cater the

need of skilled man power in the automotive industry. The Siemens Centre of
Excellence is established under an agreement between Industries
Commissionerate - Government of Gujarat, Siemens Industry Software (INDIA)
Pvt. Ltd., Designtech Systems Ltd., India & Pandit Deendayal Petroleum
University.

Siemens Centre of Excellence

The CoE has been inaugurated on 26th September 2014 by Shri Saurabhbhai
Patel Honorable Minister, Finance, Energy and Petrochemicals, Mines &
Minerals, Cottage Industries, Government of Gujarat in the presences of
dignitaries from Government of Gujarat, Industries and esteemed institutes.

Siemens Center of Excellence is equipped with the latest design, digital

manufacturing, simulation, and lifecycle management soft-ware from Siemens
Industry Software, and state of art industrial equipment from Siemens Industry.
It also have the latest computerized numerical controllers (CNC),
programmable logic controllers (PLC), computer integrated manufacturing unit
(CIM) comprising of CNC milling and turning machines, automatic guided
vehicles (AGV), industrial robots, automatic storage and retrieval systems,
vision inspection system for quality control, CIM controllers and software, rapid
prototyping machines, etc., all integrated using Siemens Total Integrated
Automation (TIA) portal. It has 9 fully-equipped laboratories that will be staffed
with instructors trained and certified by Siemens.

Objectives

To provide understanding of Siemens PLC S7 300 system including

hardware components and their functions.
Explain execution of Logical, Arithmetic and Analog Functions of
PLC S7 300 using simulator s7 300.
Enable participants to develop new PLC Program for typical plant
applications.
To enhance troubleshooting and faultfinding skills in PLC based
automation systems.
