1.1 INTORDUCTION
UNISCAN NX/H/V is a Universal Input Scanner are intended for continuous
monitors of process parameters and optionally generating alarm/trip outputs .
It incorporates advanced software features and micro controller based design
to provide complete user flexibility and can cater to almost all monitoring and
data acquisition needs of the user. It can be user programmed to cover
different application needs thus reducing time, inventory and spares cost. It
accepts direct signals from thermocouples, RTDs and linear voltage and
current inputs, either as fixed type or programmable universal input. Each
channel is sequentially scanned and active channels are displayed, Individual
channels can be locked for monitoring using the E key. Flexible alarm logic
and grouping is provided to energize alarm relay outputs as per the process
parameter values and programmed set points.
Serial communication is provided to enable the scanner to communicate with
PC (RS 232/RS 485 optional.

2.0 INSTALLATION / WIRING

Unpack the instrument and install it in a panel having specified cutout. Provide instrument power as per order. Provide an external
fuse/MCB of 250 mA rating for additional protection. Wire up the relays if ordered; these are with potential-free output, external
voltage has to be connected to drive the trip circuit (e.g. contactors coil).
Wire up the instruments inputs via its detachable external termination board and connect it to the main unit by the built-in
Male/Female connector pairs. Route the sensor cables and the extension cable away from electrical noise sources. Ensure correct
input polarity.
Important Note: Insure proper earthing connection of supply

The UNISCAN-NX/H/V has the following HMI-interface:

1. Top 4 digit 7-segment LED normally shows Process Value display of channel being shown (PV). This indicates the value of the
channels input being measured, in direct engineering units. The range can be programmed for mA/Sqrt inputs at site over any 4-digit
range (-1999 to 9999 units).
2.

Bottom 4 digit 7-segment LED normally shows Channel Number and Alarm Status of channel being shown.

3.

2 nos LEDs A & M for display of Auto-Manual status. The instrument can be operated in automatic mode, wherein the channel display
automatically scrolls through all channels as per user set display interval time. In Manual mode, user can select any channel and hold
the display to that channel.

4.

4 nos. keys for operating the instrument. Their normal functions are given below (keys from left to right)

1. S SCROLL: This key sequentially selects parameter being displayed or programmed.

2. Decrement: This key selects (decrements) channel numbers in Manual Mode
3. Increment: This key selects (increments) channel numbers in Manual Mode.
4. M Auto/Manual: This key toggles the instrument between Auto/Manual modes.
All keys are multi-function keys and used singly or in combination with other keys and this is described in the relevant sections.
Any unused channel should be terminated by minimum 100 resistor

I mportant Note 1: The UNISCANs standard software enables user to select up to 32 relays for assigning them
for alarms of any desired channel. The software allows selection of maximum number of relays (32), obviously, if
lesser number of relays are ordered, user must select relay numbers less than or equal to the relays ordered. (For
example, if 8 relays are ordered, you can assign alarms of desired channels among these 8 relays only, if an alarm
is allocated to relay number higher than 8, it will not function).
Important Note 2: The user must satisfy himself that relays have been correctly assigned/grouped. This is especially important for critical
applications like alarm/trips of safety devices. Standard suggested method is to make a table of desired alarm assignments, so that alarm
type conflicts are avoided while programming the UNICSAN-NX. (For example, the same relay can be assigned for High or Low Alarm
conditions to different channels.
Important Note 3: When alarm condition H (TRIP) for any channel occurs and if instrument is in auto mode then It stops scanning and
holds the temperature value of that channel. It will be remains in that state unless and until the condition get acknowledged. Press key to
acknowledge that condition, it will run in auto mode till next H alarm condition occurs.

Suppose User wants to calibrate RTD to ch-2. Go in configuration mode. Recall that input type and then save it by pressing S+M
key.
Suppose input type (e.g. RTD) is there then also user has to change it and set to RTD. Save it by pressing S+M key.
Important Note: User can calibrate the instruments without auto calibration. It needs individual calibration for each channel
(Procedure is given in calibration mode). By this way these instruments can be use for any input type as mentioned above.
